If the Jets had stayed at 37 and 49?

I totally get the temptation, but nothing about this exercise is going to make you happy.  Watching Darnold beat Allen repeatedly over the next 10 years will make you happy.

I think it is highly likely IND would have traded out if we didn't do that trade earlier.  And we might have had to be the one to trade up at an even higher cost.

If ifs and ands were pots and pans ... who cares?

We're on the Sam tram with the #1 QB!

I've been a steady eddy on this.  I still stand by...

1. Darnold

2A. Rosen

2B. Mayfield

Those are the only three draft cards I'd have printed and in-hand if I'm the Jets.

I’m excited to see how they use cannon.

They are saying that they are pretty stoked to see how he’ll look on KR/PR.

I’m thinking they use him there and also as a situational scat back...he needs to develop softer hands though. They say he isn’t a natural catcher.

It looks like Rosen / Landry / Guice vs. Darnold.  Never know how these things will turn out but I'm not complaining right now.  If Darnold is 5% better than Rosen it could be worth it.

What if...

We signed Kirk, and then drafted Nelson, Ro-Jo III, and Goedert.

Or, traded back and got Rosen at 10, and used extra capital to draft OL.

Or, traded back nine times to accumulate 2019 draft picks like the gold that they are. See: Patriots.

Correct.  If someone else trades up to 3 for darnold,  & we're left at 6 with only Rosen & Allen left of the big 4, & 2 picks between us,  including Denver,  there's no chance we stay put at 6

Braden Smith is the developmental OL  everyone's crying about 2 threads over.  He can start for Indy at multiple spots. On this team could replace Winters/Carpenter or maybe even Shell if we are being optimistic.

Kemoko Turay is the edge rusher everyone wanted in rd 3,  the Colts may actually taken him a rd too early, he's not that superior of a prospect athletically but the edge market is inflated.

I don't like playing the hindsight game but let's call it what it was: Quenton Nelson, Braden Smith and Kemoko Turay for Sam Darnold. Let history be the judge.

Yea and if we stayed at 6 maybe rosen would b gone and allen would be taken  and hed bust and wed suck for the next 10 years.

You gotta be aggressive for a fqb chance.

This logic of "coulda had if..."  is the reason we always sucks. Enough already!

Geez, let's have a nice running back and Tight End in round 2, with no Franchise changing QB to throw the ball to them. You can't make this sh@t up.

I'm happy with Sam and some guys with upside. We have years to build this team. FA's will flock to us next year with another $100 mill to spend and Sam D at QB.

Looking at the board I see about 5 or 6 candidates for those picks.

At 37 I think I'd have taken either Gesicki, Landry or Ronald Jones II.

At 49 I like Goedert (if we didn't go Gesicki earlier) or Guice (if we didn't go with Jones).

Defense, defense that’s for sure lol

Who cares?? Stay at 6 and draft who?? Don’t care about those picks, who may all be busts, if we have a FQB. Jets have a stellar history in the 2nd round

I agree. Tanking would have been the best thing we could have done last yr. but we had to get down to 2 or 3. We just had to pay a 2nd round pick for each win to get back down to 3.

Allen would not have worked in The NYC market. Buffalo he has a chance.

We will have camp cuts and FA and the draft next year to get back the players lost on the draft picks.

Bye moving to 3 Mac and the Jets controlled the first 6 picks of the draft.

Browns forced to take Mayfield

Giants get their stud offensive weapon can’t be enticed to move from 2

Jets get their QB of the future

Browns fill need

Denver lands Chubb

Indy gets protection for Luck

Bye standing pat the scenario would be totally unknown!!!

If the Jets had stayed at 37 and 49, Sam Darnold would be wearing a different uniform .  I didn't want this QB, but I got him and I can live with that . He is considered by many to be the consensus best QB from this draft class , a guarantied Franchise QB candidate and 20 years old .

On a championship football team you need to start with a Franchise QB , a Franchise Edge rusher and playmakers . You also need people to protect said QB .

After this draft, the Jets are closer to where they need to be .

I disagree with your opinion obviously. As if his personality was only meant for Buffalo  for some reason.

As for next year hopefully our new GM can trade back to get back in the second round. Yes, fire Mac!

With 100 million dollars I think we can buy 2 guys as good as Landry or Guice is my guess. Not a big deal. The big deal is the big kahuna Sam Darnold.
