Alk
Hold on. I thought I had read that Cunningham was staying. That will be the first stupid thing Herm has done with the Chiefs if he lets Gunther walk.

SouthernJet
Can u say Cover2???? with no personell to implement it..haha, what a tool,, he will take a team, kc, that is playoff ready and retool the defense,,, if u want to retool, wait a year or two to see if the playoff caliber subsides,, but changing systems in midstream of a playoff team is guaranteeed stepback,,

MiamiJet
I mentioned this before. I didn't realize that Marinelli was in the last year of his deal and will be a free agent. With Ron Rivera about to depart for a HC gig, Lovie Smith has contacted Marinelli as well. Who will win out, Herm or Lovie? I've got to think that marinelli would want to work with the Bears, because of their personnel and having worked with Lovie who was a linebackers coach in Tampa. I'd think he'd have the edge over Herm, but he is very charismatic. Maybe Marinelli spurns them both. Will be interesting...
baamf
Didn't Herm try to get Marinelli when he was first hired here?I believe Herm tried to bring him in for an interview prior to hiring Henderson and the Bucs wouldn't grant permission.... MiamiJet
I believe Herm tried to bring him in for an interview prior to hiring Henderson and the Bucs wouldn't grant permission.... Correct. Gruden received a request from both Herm and Lovie and he denied permission. Marinelli was pissed, and now has a chance to blot. Unless he gets a big pay raise, I see him gone. Tons of teams have DC positions open, like Chicago, NY, St. Louis, and I doubt he stays.
4HCrew
From what I remember he was pretty good friends with Herm back from the Tampa days so could be a match. But given the choice would rather coach the talent in Chicago than in KC.
