This was Shepherd on Day 1 of the Senior Bowl beating Willy Hernandez (the guard the Giants drafted in the 2nd round). By all accounts, Shepherd was dominating at the Senior bowl before he got hurt.

Bowles has no excuses this year. His defense better be top 10. And a very good defense is almost as helpful to a young QB as a good offense. Giving your QB short fields to work with, keep games close, holding opponents to a FG after a rookie mistake etc..

And it's not like we didn't improve our offense by signing a couple of OL, signing Pryor and Crowell and are getting Enunwa back.

Shephard is physically scary. Guy looks all muscle at 315 lbs.

I feel interior D lineman are the easiest players to scout. Their game translates so well from college to the pros. As far as assignments and the playbook, no position is easier to learn than that position. O lineman need intelligence to play their positions. I imagine the Jets get immediate returns on this 3rd rounder

I posted this in the draft thread, but they interviewed romeo crennel during the senior bowl and he was asked what players impressed him and the first player he mentioned was shepherd. Another poster noted phil savage raved about shepherd during senior bowl week. (he pulled his hamstring so did not play in the game). I think this guy will show us something, I am eager to see him in action.

Shepherd:

Born and raised just outside of Toronto, Canada, Nathan Shepherd was a linebacker prospect who signed with Division II Simon Fraser out of high school. He ended up
deciding that football wasn't for him, and quit at Simon Fraser, moving on to construction and packing jobs for two full years before he decided to give football another shot.
The coach at Fort Hays State found his film and what his build was, and opted to slide him inside as a defensive lineman, where he instantly blossomed once again. As a
sophomore in 2015, almost three years removed from his last game at Simon Fraser, the now 280 pound defensive tackle earned third-team All-Conference recognition and
started all 12 games. From there, Shepherd earned All-American Consideration in 2016 and 2017, causing ample disruption and over 20 TFL over his last two seasons despite
plenty of offensive blocking attention and working as an interior defender. Shepherd is a bit older than the average NFL prospect, and will be a 24 year old rookie with plenty
of need for development along with adjustment from a smaller school. He still looks to be getting comfortable in his massive body compared to his early football career, and
his natural strength and athleticism remains untapped as he continues to grow. He doesn't have ideal instincts, and often is aggressive and active in his upfield penetration but
doesn't recognize adjustments by offenses or diagnose trap blocks effectively. He tries too hard to work through blockers at times, and needs to find better ways to maximize
his size and athleticism. He's grown substantially over his college career, and his development even at Fort Hays State speaks to his ceiling as a prospect once he's in an NFL
facility. He shows great fluidity and balance once he works to the backfield, and finishes on quarterbacks/running backs with little wasted motion, and looks like he could be a
capable 5-technique with some edge/spatial ability if needed. Shepherd has big-time upside, but still needs lots of work as an older prospect. If a team is willing to give him a
full season on the bench (as they likely can't practice squad him) and utilize a roster spot, he could pay huge rewards after a season and a half in the NFL.

Well, teams aren’t going to be able to run on us, and they’re going to have trouble passing on us.

We just won’t get flashy sacks & turnovers.

Fatukasi:

Fatukasi was born on March 4, 1995 in Far Rockaway, NY. He was a little under the radar as a recruit out of Beach Channel High School, due in part to him suffering an undisclosed injury during
his junior year of high school that cost him all but two games. He took a redshirt during his first season as a Husky and quickly earned a spot in the defensive line rotation, appearing in 12 games
with three starts as a redshirt freshman. Fatukasi went on to become a three-year starter and put together a solid collegiate career. Fatusaki possesses tremendous size for the position and has
impressive length (34 5/8 arms, 82 1/8 wingspan) and large 10 1/4 inch hands. He tested well at the Combine and his athleticism shows up at times on film. His stamina is a bit of a question as he
is a part of a rotation and will receive a healthy amount of drives off during a given game. He isn't the most fluid athlete and has solid play speed, but Fatusaki flashes impressive closing burst
when he's able to get off blocks both at the point-of-attack and as a pass rusher. He has good flexibility for a big guy and does a nice job keeping his pads down, flashing the ability to capitalize
when he's able to win the leverage battle. Fatusaki fires his hands coming off the snap and has some pop to his hands. He can extend and stack-and-shed when he's able to get his hands on
linemen's chest plates, and he does a nice job quickly finding and getting to the ball as a run defender. He has good strength to his lower half and displays the ability to anchor down with relative
ease one-on-one, and has the hand activity to make his presence felt when he's in the A and B gaps. As a pass rusher, Fatusaki is a bit inconsitent but flashes adequate ability as an interior rusher.
He has times where he generates push with his bull rush on solo matchups, but he doesn't do son consistently and struggles to make his presence felt vs. double teams. He doesn't possess the
broadest pass rush arsenal, but he flashes a rip move as well as a spin move to free himself and get home to the quarterback. Fatusaki possesses the size and skillset to fit into either an odd or even
front as a 2-3-technique. Overall, Fatusaki is an intruiging prospect that has seen his stock rise during the draft process. He is a physical presence at the POA and flashes a powerful anchor and the
hand usage to get off blocks and get to the ball, while having the ability to wrap and finish with nice power. Fatusaki is a bit of a developmental prospect as a pass rusher and needs to continue to
develop his pass rush arsenal as well as build consistency with the timing of his first step coming off of the snap. He is a scheme-versatile prospect that could be an asset playing for a hybrid
defensive front. Fatusaki will likely start his career as a depth/rotational player but could develop into a quality starter early in his career. He is a Day 3 prospect that will come off the board

The improved secondary will give the rushers some more time to get to the QB. We may not have a 10 sack guy, but we could have a bunch of guys with 4-6.

Yeah, this.

Our entire DL is built to stop the run. All of our LB are more run-stop than pass-rush. And our best CBs both specialize in press-man.

Since a ‘18 5th was used back at the trade deadline you can add CB Rashard Robinson
