I love the headline on that story. Classic:

Judging by this brutal first pitch, Baker Mayfield already looks like a Cleveland Browns QB

As silly as this thread is, it does speak volumes that any negative regarding Baker will be treated as another Browns debacle. Anywhere other than Cleveland would have best suited this kid.

cleveland's failures and the ghost of manziel too.

That's the thing.  There is more pressure on Mayfield & the Browns than Darnold would have had if drafted by them because if Darnold fails, people would essentially say, "it happens, the draft is a crapshoot, but they made the proper choice."

Instead, the Browns bucked conventional wisdom so they'll look like fools if it fails, despite the fact that failure is a strong possibility regardless of who is drafted.

Preview of what will come in actual nfl games

I bet.

He'll be terrible and the Giants messed up royally.

The two things some Jets fans have been trying to convince themselves of since last Thursday for some odd reason.

I've never seen Jets fans care so much about a Cleveland QB not named Josh McCown or the decision of the Giants in the draft, especially after allegedly drafting the best qb in the draft ourselves.

Just make sure to wipe your knees after you finish praying for his downfall and for that "Giant" mistake.

I doubt Cleveland fans will make any threads talking about Sam Darnold at yankee stadium or Mets stadium just to make a determination of how smart their GM was lol.

he's no George W. Bush, that's for sure

It was a seminal moment in American history. Came out after 9-11 and fired a rope right down the middle while wearing a bulletproof vest. Don't care what your politics are, that was BALLER.

This is something I reckon will help Darnold & the Jets ... the hype ahead of the draft was all around Mayfield, you heard very little about Darnold; he writes his own headlines while Darnold seems to try to avoid them.

If the media focus is more on Mayfield it may help Darnold stay out of the headlines (at least for non-football reasons). Sanchez had GQ covers before training camp, and i can see that same attention being diverted to Cleveland more than New York this summer.
