BigJermaineFromQnz
Is it possible for an organization to be more soulless, evil, and unlikeable? I know the Yankees had their days 10 years ago and all that when they had some kind of personality and soul, but i think this Damon deal officially signifies rock-bottom, as far as a Team "spirit" is concerned. Most Yankees fans i talk to are even quick to admit this move is over the edge. How greedy can this team be.

BigJermaineFromQnz
I know. But you should not talk aboutlate posts: http://www.jetnation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13051 Anyway, I forgot to bring it up. The question still persists though. How can you root for this Evil, unlikable team?

Maxman
Derek Jeter runs a charity that helps save animals that were the victim of road accidents. He is turning what would be road kill and nurturing them. Then he sets them free into the forest. Derek Jeter is good for the environment. I just thought you should know this. mbn007
Since when is improving your team "over-kill", or whatever term you choose to use? The Mets dish out budget-busting contracts to the likes of Wagner, and last year to Benson, setting off severe market-reacting similar moves, by raising the value of all similar players. That is not "soulless, evil, and unlikeable" (your words)? OK.

BigJermaineFromQnz
When you bring in THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE basically EVERY YEAR for 7/8 years you are a lot more evil. I know you didnt want me to do this, but let's compare: Yankees: Gay-Rod, Sheff, Giambi, Womack, Matsui, Randy Johnson, Pavano, Brown, Wright. Those are your huge signings/tradings. Now lets look at the Mets: Beltran, Wagner, Delgado, Pedro. Besides which, we get players who actually will fit this team. We dont rob the heart and soul from our rivals and just put him in a slot. Look at and be honest. Do the yanks have any personality? When you watch the game they just sit around like robots in the dugout, quiet, and with low expectations. How such a star studded roster could not even get to the world series 2 years in a row is completely embaressing. I'm sorry, I just feel the need to rub it in how the Mets have been SO MUCH more fun to watch and have such a more fun team with more personality, AND we are a BETTER team now too. thanks. Matsui wasn't even IN the league First of all Womack is a top player on any other team, too bad he came to the black hole for talent that has became "the yankees" and saw his skills erode in that lifeless environment. Pavano wasnt a star? please. He was one of the hottest pitchers around last year...
Blackout
last year Pavano spent most of the season in the DL, hottest pitchers? he had one good year in 2004, thats not "star" worthy

We dont rob the heart and soul from our rivals and just put him in a slot. Yes... let's take a look at the Mets. Who have the highest payroll, by far, in the National League. You stole Beltran from Houston. He was their heart and soul, through the playoff run they had. You stole Billy Wagner from Philly. He was their heart and soul of the bullpen, and a division rival, if I'm not mistaken. The Mets raped Florida for Carlos Delgado. And, they overpaid for Pedro. Look at and be honest. Do the yanks have any personality? When you watch the game they just sit around like robots in the dugout, quiet, and with low expectations. Because they're not flamboyant, they have no personality? Maybe it's because they know how to act with class, as opposed to being an ass. How such a star studded roster could not even get to the world series 2 years in a row is completely embaressing. I'm sorry, I just feel the need to rub it in how the Mets have been SO MUCH more fun to watch and have such a more fun team with more personality, AND we are a BETTER team now too. I'll be sure to let the Mets know that somehow, you're now apart of their team. And, have the Mets even made the playoffs lately? At all? You're making this way too easy. Like fish in a barrell. I'm glad that you think the Mets are more fun to watch, losing more games than the Yankees. Hopefully, you'll be entertained just as much, with the Mets missing the playoffs, once again. Sounds like Jermaine just got served One more thing. It is good to see teams like the Mets and the Red Sox now embracing the Yankee approach. It should keep them from the post season for at least the next 10 years.

That SS19... he's a smart guy. But, it's kinda sad when a Tigers fan had to be the one to serve him.

And, it was funny, putting him in his place. I'm more than happy to put Yankee fans in their place too, should they get out of line.
GimmeShelter
Under the labor contract, the Yankees and Red Sox will be the only teams subject to the luxury tax next year and both will pay at a 40 percent rate on the amount over the threshold, which rises to $136.5 million. The collective bargaining agreement expires next December, meaning the sides could negotiate new rules for 2007 and beyond. Using 40-man rosters, the average annual values of contracts and including benefits, the Yankees' payroll finished at $213.1 million, followed by Boston at $141.9 million, the New York Mets at $119.2 million, the Los Angeles Angels at $115.9 million and Seattle at $111.9 million. That doesn't look like "far and away" the highest payroll in the NL.
124
Anything the Yankees can take away from Boston that's a positive to the Yankees is a double positive all together. Period. 27 in 06.
