CTJetsFan
(Paraphrasing and not necessarily in order) "We like to fill needs thru free agency" "There were some players (O-linemen) we liked (in the 3rd round), but there were other players we liked more." "Ideally would like to build line thru the draft" Went on to talk about the amount of cap space next year and the possibility of adding thru cuts between now and the season. Beerfish
He has had 4 years to build the line through the draft and he has drafted two 5th rounders. The guys you get access to via june cuts or free agency usually have issues. Hey no one is saying we have to use all of our picks on the oline but he seems to have no problem 'taking a flyer' on CBs and WRs, TEs and dline but ignores the oline. The old mantra, draft bpa and do not draft for needs? Pretty soon we will be forced to draft for need. sh*tty Gming.

Hearing him myself gave me the impression that his eyes are/have been towards 2019 to complete the re-build, including the O-lne.
Larz
Would you sign here with hack and petty? The QB makes signing guys so much easier The puzzling part is they seem to be giving carpenter a shot to win the job Maybe Dennison likes him?

He looked like he added some lbs last yr.

I know Carpenter in miscast in a zone-blocking scheme but he's still a talented and experienced guy. The hope has to be that that they can improve him in this scheme over the Summer and that new/better coaching will help. At the end of the day, I think LG is one of the first positions ripe for an upgrade in 2019. I wouldn't mind using our 1st rounder next year to get a premier pass-blocking LT. Beachum has been good but we need to find our next Brick to go with Darnold for a decade.
