Other than Darnold I want to see these two new Defensive Linemen in action.

The Jets are going after guys that are considered hard workers, grinders, after talent the 2nd most important attribute is WANT. Do they WANT to be considered the best! Mo is a perfect example of a guy that accepts being mediocre & not playing hard all the time.

You look at the Dwight Freeneys, John Randalls, Cameron Wakes of the NFL and it tells you guys that bring it all the time create their own breaks. The kicker was Mo saying he got no help on the way out. Excuse maker, the worst kind of Pro. Good riddence to him, addition by subtraction.

Sam looks lonely ?. I’m so glad Todd Bowles made this team fight tooth and nail for 5 wins over 3. Who cares about 2nd round picks.. look what Mac has done with them anyway lol

Just to put tour 2nd rounders in perspective, does anyone remember the GB 2nd round picks when they took Aaron Rodgers?  Don’t worry, neither do Packer fans.

It was absolutely woth the risk to guarantee we get a FQB this draft.  The fact that we got the unquestioned cleanest QB prospect, was icing on the cake.

Going into last season knowing the Jets needed to be epically bad was really disheartening.  While it softened the disappointment of the losses, it really dampened all the enthusiasm of the games where they player really well and beat some really good teams.  I hope we are never in another situation like that again.  And now that Sam Darnold is a Jet, I think we could be set for the next 15 years.

I was going to post the article for Kelly, but this is all you really need:

By all accounts, the New York Jets hit pay dirt in the 2018 NFL Draft

I think this covers it - a rah rah piece that requires 5 more clicks to read the entire thing, maybe Mehta is the ghost author based on the following quote in the "article";

"Nathan Shepherd was an excellent third round value, and both GM Maccagnan and Coach Bowles see him as the defensive end replacement for overpaid over-sleeper Muhammad Wilkerson.

Unlike Jersey boy Wilkerson, the Canadian-bred Shepherd’s relentless and hard-working"

You got me curious so I looked it up.  Packers had 2 #2s that year.  Nick Collins, decent DB who played 6 seasons; and WR Terrence Murphy who caught 5 passes in his NFL career.  The rest of the Pack's draft that year sucked.  But because of Rodgers, it is a great draft.

At the beginning of the 17 season, I was firmly entrenched in the tank crowd.  But that doesn't matter now.  We got our QB.  It cost us a few picks, but that is the price we had to pay.  No point in still whining over winning too many games last year.

It has been most of the last two seasons that I have not cared if we won or lost.  I am looking forward to a season where the wins feel good.  There are bound to be some rough patches, and the playoffs are likely a long shot in 18, but i am looking forward to this season a lot more than the last two.

I know that I had a great time watching the Jets beat Jax at home last year.  And if that joy cost a couple 2nd rounders I am ok with it.

tfw mall security catches you masturbating in the dressing room of a Lane Bryant and you lose your tenure-track position at Tufts.

I really thought this was going to be about your streaking pics.

Sam Darnold will make his Jets debut today — kind of. Rookie minicamp opens in Florham Park, New Jersey, where Darnold and the other draft picks will take the field at 1:10 p.m. Stay tuned for updates.

There’s only one thing I’m worried about at rookie camp. Darnold, the other picks are BS.

"the other picks are BS."

Huh? Really?

So you don't want to know why Macc was so excited about Shepherd that he reached for him in the 3rd. The tools are all there. This guy could be a BEAST in the middle of that D-line. Maybe he moves over to DE? He DOES have some pass rushing ability- very agile guy for his size and has a great rip move.

You don't want to see what Nickerson can do? If he can prove himself as a starting caliber slot CB and force Macc to cut penalty prone, overpaid Skrine?

You're not curious about Cannon and if he can outplay McGuire and Rawls for the 3rd spot? I am.

Shepley, Luvu, Flowers...not curious at all if any of these UDFAs can make the roster and contribute. I'll tell you right now all three of these guys have a good chance to make the final 53.

I can’t believe Rodgers fell that far in the first. I guess the short thing made some paranoid lol. Well gb had Brett farve still in his prime when they drafted Rodgers. So they obviously were not in tank mode. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad darnold is here. I just value 2nd round picks a lot. After second round it’s a crap shoot finding talent.

Drafting 3 DL, an injured TE (when you already have a TE coming off a knee injury), no oline or edge was BS. Obviously I’m curious and hopeful the new guys will make an impact but I’m not getting my hopes up. As far as this years goes I don’t give a **** if we only win two or three games. I just want Darnold to look good and so improvement over the season. If he does that I’ll be happy.

There is just no way I could have envisioned a draft where we took zero OL or Edge rushers.  Of course, I couldn’t envision Darnold falling to 3 either.

That said, the edge rushers I thought highly of, either fell really far in the draft (Okoronkwo) or went undrafted (Jeff Holland and Ola Adeniyi.)

Perhaps the talent in this draft at those positions did not stack up to previous years.

Either way, we currently have the most cap space again next year (close to $100M less Leo’s 2019 salary.)

Perhaps we wait to upgrade the OL and Edge next March.

Next year they’ll have a top 5 pick (no second) so they should definitely be able to get at least one oline, edge or playmaker plus FA.
