Untouchable
I think it’s more possible than most seem to think. I know most fans think the guy is garbage and want nothing to do with him being on the roster, but let’s be honest, Hackenberg was always a 2-3 year project. I supported the pick when it was made but still knew it was a bit of a reach and the guy shouldn’t see the field for at least a year. Now, did I see him being 2 years in without seeing a single regular season snap? Hell no. But I think he could surprise some people this summer. At least enough to where many won’t consider him a waste of a roster spot.

#27TheDominator
I don't see it. By this point in his career Henne had something like 3000 yards passing and had started for the bulk of a season. Moore was an UDFA that still got 3 starts as a rookie. He probably would have had more his 2nd year, but he broke his leg in the preseason. David Harris
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000931439/article/jets-christian-hackenberg-overhauls-throwing-motion Jets' Christian Hackenberg overhauls throwing motion The Jets released Bryce Petty on Thursday, leaving three quarterbacksahead of Christian Hackenberg on the depth chart. Two years into his career, the 2016 second-round draft pick has yet to throw an official NFL pass. Is there reason to believe Hackenberg can push free-agent acquisition Teddy Bridgewater for the No. 3 job behind Sam Darnold and Josh McCown? Last we heard from the team on Hackenberg's status, coach Todd Bowles said the former Penn State star has "got to correct a lot of things, obviously." To that end, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Thursday's edition of NFL Up to the Minute, Hackenberg has been working with quarterback guru Jeff Christensen to rebuild his mechanics. Christensen has worked with Jimmy Garoppolo, Kirk Cousins and Ryan Tannehill in the past. The crucial difference here is that Hackenberg has had to "start from scratch" on his throwing motion, Christensen told Garafolo. To this point, Hackenberg has been through 50 sessions with his personal passing coach. If this story sounds vaguely familiar to Jets fans, it's because Tim Tebow underwent a complete reboot of his delivery in a last-ditch effort to salvage his career five years ago. Even if Hackenberg is more successful in his own overhaul, his window of opportunity in Florham Park may have slammed shut. Bowles has passed up prime opportunities to audition Hackenberg at the tail end of back-to-back lost seasons. General manager Mike Maccagnan traded a war chest of draft picks for the opportunity to hand-pick his quarterback of the future at No. 3 overall. Without acknowledging it publicly, the Jets' actions suggest Hackenberg might not play an NFL snap before his rookie deal expires in 2020.

You don't think he'd choose the Jets so he'd have the opportunity to continue to play for the coach who loves him, Todd Bowles? Come on! As I've said before, the fact that Bowles hates Hack makes me think Hack might have some ability after all. I wouldn't be surprised if Hack turns into a good player if the Jets cut him. I want to see the guy at least get a chance here. After this year, I'm pretty sure the only QB we have under contract is Darnold. Obviously McCown and Bridgewater can be brought back but there's a legit chance neither will be. They said Hack was a 1-2 year project when we drafted him. We all expected it would be a 1 year project but we've now already put 2 years into the guy. We may as well see if he shows any promise in training camp. Who knows, he could end up being our Nick Foles one day!
Adoni Beast
It is going to be difficult for someone who has been so bad and couldn’t even leapfrog Bryce Petty on the depth chart to stay in this league much longer. maury77
I don't see it man. You can overhaul his mechanics all day, but his processing skills are shot and he can't deal with the pass rush. If he's after a starting job - better off elsewhere (but chances are still very slim). If he's content with a backup job, Jets may be an OK option - we have no-one else right now who will be a backup for us in 2019. Teddy will either play well and go elsewhere, or not play at all and get let go. McCown is not the future at backup.

Lith
I just don't see what purpose Hack would serve being on the roster. He has just as much regular season NFL game experience as Darnold. Our coaching staff should not be trying to develop two young guys at the same time. Hack has no role. He should not be on the roster. He should not be on the practice squad. No reason to keep him around. And it probably would be doing the kid a favor if we cut him and gave him a shot to catch on somewhere else. If we need a back-up next year, we will be able to find one. Ohio State NY Jets fan
I would prefer to invest in Bridgewater, if he can prove healthy and return to form he could win a few games and will add draft capital, if his health does not allow him to be a full time starter, he would be a great long term backup; we know he can win games, he has the talent... sourceworx
I think Hack's issue is more than just his mechanics and accuracy. If you watched him in college and then watched in the preseason, defenders were often getting to him completely unblocked. When Petty or McCown were in, that never happened. For all the talk about him being great on the whiteboard, he seems to have trouble adjusting the protection before the snap. And he takes beatings as a result.
