BELICHICK DISCOURAGING MANGINI ON JETS?

NIGHT STALKER

Recommended Posts

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that Pats coach Bill Belichick could be discouraging defensive coordinator Eric Mangini from accepting an opportunity to become the head coach of the New York Jets, based on factors such as the team's salary cap situation (and perhaps that the Jets and Pats play two games against each other per year).

Belichick, per Schefter, refused to allow Mangini to be interviewed this week. Instead, Mangini will sit for the job after the Pats return from Denver following Saturday night's playoff game.

If Mangini decides to pass on the opportunity to leap to the franchise with which Belichick technically was the head coach for like 18 minutes in 2000, Schefter thinks that the Jets will hire former Saints head coach Jim Haslett, former Giants head coach Jim Fassel, or former Vikings head coach Mike Tice.

Mumbles is a dick!!!!!!!

Jets' backup plan: Jim Haslett does have a good chance to be the Jets' head coach if New York can't land Patriots defensive coordinator Eric Mangini. Mangini will interview Sunday after the Patriots return from their playoff game in Denver. Coach Bill Belichick wouldn't let the Jets interview Mangini before the Broncos playoff game, which is what the other playoff teams are doing. The Jets were upset but they didn't lodge a protest with the league to make the interview Thursday. The Steelers, for example, are letting teams talk to offensive line coach Russ Grimm and offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt after 6 p.m. Thursday and before they leave Saturday for their playoff game in Indianapolis.

F Mumbles and F the Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I grew up in a bi-lingual home....my Boston accent is minimal. (Thankfully! )

Hey - I hear there is a new push by the Vermont Legislature to come up with programs to entice Dentists to come to Vermont. There's hope for you yet, Assmop!

You can't blame Mumbles for trying to keep the guy. or for wanting him around to prepare for a game.

There are plenty of reasons to hate that lying, thieving piece of Sh#t, but this isn't one of them.

Believe it or not Mumbles also has obligation to his coaches and their future ops. The gameplan is in, for mumbles to not let EM interview for 2 hrs, is rather pathetic and shows zero class

Give Cowher credit for supporting his coaches.

So you are saying a week before a tough divisional playoff game you would expect BB to allow his DC to go off and interview for another job?

No wonder you are a friggn' Jets fan.

Gameplan was in on Tuesday - but they have to practice it and tweak it as they go along. Yeesh, Assmop, this isn't Hermie we are talking about here.

Yaah it is called common courtesy. Badway would come after Boygina's practice sessions would be completed.

Mumbles is an ahole and is doing this to spite the jests.

If my boss prevented me from interviewing for a $3M promotion i would be pissed to say the least.

have a another Tonic!

Common Courtesy? I have a playoff game to win here -and you want to take off for a few hours? I don't think so....

Boygina's job does not end after practice. Again, this isn't the Jets we are talking about. This is the Pats. A WELL RUN organization.

Plus, what difference does it make if Mangini interviews on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? In the interim, the Jets interview their other candidates. As far as I know, Mangini has no other interviews planned.

...no kidding! Listen, Mangini is high on the Jets list because of some good reasons, and then some real short-sighted/or bad reasons.

Good:

He's a great defensive mind

He comes from a strong coaching tree

Getting him will weaken a division opponent

Short-sighted/bad:

Getting him will weaken a division opponent

Bradway will continue his reign of power

Can stink for a while without too much of an uproar or have a built-in excuse for failure
