I just bought a new truck,,,

Had my good old toyota matrix since 2006.  Had decided long ago to buy a new truck just after I retired.  Very tough decision as everyone makes pretty good trucks these days and the salespeople were actually really good and not assholes which I feared.

I ended up buying a Ford F150 4x4 extended cab dark blue.

Nice. I just got rid of my Chevy Silverado a few months ago. bought it near-new and I loved it, but after about five years it started rusting and falling apart. I had all kinds of mechanical issues with it too. Definitely would not get that make/model again.

I do miss having a truck, though.

Congrats on a fabulous choice...........................until friends family start asking you to help move things.

Ask me how I know ?

Kidding aside Ford and Toyota make the best pick ups by far.

More expensive but if you keep vehicles longer than 4 years worth it.

Ram and Chevy GMC.......... pffffffffffffffffft

Ask around and you will see.

I have a 3 year old Tundra.   The only mechanical issue it has had is a tail light bulb went out.

Once you have the truck, it's hard to go back.

as a spin off (someone mentioning friends asking for help moving stuff) - There should be an UBER type product for this.

often people need this type of help but don't need man with a van  easily could charge $50 bucks an hour.

man with a van is one of the best deals around.

I owned five F150s, all 4WDs, all brand new. My first was a '97 flareside reg cab. Owned all cab configurations: regular, supercrew, supercab. After my second supercrew I switched back to supercab. It was my fave because you can fully open the cab all at once. There are certain things in life you must buy American: trucks, tires, surfboards, guitars, and footballs. Ford trucks are #1 for a reason. Had no mechanical issues with any of them except after 100K miles on my '09 the rear diff exploded. The $6 pin bolt that holds spider gears to the shaft severed off and set everything free. A few shakes and a loud bang. One gear shot thru the metal case and the driveshaft twisted off the u-joint as I entered a freeway. Ford wanted $3800 + tax to fix it but parts were on back order. Took it to a rear end specialist that fixed it in half a day. Dropped it off at 8am, picked it up before 2pm. $635 out the door. They stocked all parts, Ford dealer didn't. Differential internals require so much micro-precision I didn't want some inexperienced shop help attempting it at a dealership. No idea what an extended warranty might've cost, but for $635 and no other repairs I can't complain. This is the super rare '09 short bed SuperCab FX4 that became the first generation Raptor.

Circle this.....

If I remember correctly, it was only 10 years ago, with our money, the US Gov had to bail out bankrupt  GM, Chrysler and and and and oh wait..that was it ...just GM and Chrysler but not Ford.  Ford vehicles were still selling well enough to keep them solvent during the worst economy since the depression and declined any gov assist. At the highly publicized congressional testimony by the CEOs of the big 3. Mr Mullaly, Ford CEO arrived to the testimony from Detroit by car while the other two used their bankrupt companies private jets further adding to the negative public image of the bankrupt and mismanaged companies they led. As long as you leave out the Detroit Lions, Ford is a terrific company with great products and is the most likely suitor to eventually buy / merge with Tesla.

Ha here is a good one after a few days it gets hot here so i turn on the A/C and it does not work worth sh*t.  thus i had to book in a warranty visit which will take like 10 days for them to get it in.

I gave them a good customer review on the survey they sent me before this issue.  I think i will send their customer service rep an email about this though.

10 DAYS ! That's unreal. You'd think with an expensive, brand new truck they'd bend over backwards to keep you happy. I know my Jeep dealer triple checked with me that I was happy with it before I did my JD Powers survey. I would definitely email the CS rep.

Never had any A/C issues. If you bought from a genuine Ford dealership you might wanna notify Ford directly. Sounds like the dealer didn't follow proper prep inspection procedures before releasing the truck to the buyer. Ford would love to know about bad dealers. I always check that stuff on a test drive but it's really their job to catch any issues. The 10 day deal is also outrageous. Hope it has oil!

i believe Mr. Mullaly also flew on private jet.

the ford family would not have liked for them to file BK would have been not great for them.

Ford raised a TON of money in 2006 if memory serves me correctly.  was a great move.

I also believe that the US Govt made money on their GM investment.

The dealer really has a stellar rep.  I did send another email a few hours back so we will see if they say anything.  It's tough to test out every single component of a truck before you take possession but I should have made a check list.  we'll see what happens,

F150forum.com is extremely helpful and a very fun forum. You'll get fast answers to many questions there.

I assume you checked the manual and pressed Max A/C and separate fan+ button

True and both GM and the Feds left the old GM shareholders holding worthless shares.

That’s what bankruptcy is for.

I bought a good chunk of gm bonds at 10 cents on the dollar and sold them for 40 cents on the dollar after they came out of bankruptcy.  Was a good investment.

Yes I tried about every possible action and also showed the sales rep so there is an issue.  The good news is that the polite email i sent got some results and I will be able to get the truck in this monday instead of a week later and they will give me a substitute truck for a few days until they get it fixed.

I prefer when money is made the old fashioned way like going to the bank................with a gun.

All kidding aside nice buy / sell.
