Larz
Jets Sign 3rd-Round Pick Nathan Shepherd Randy Lange NYJETS.COM CONTRIBUTOR The Jets have signed defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd, their third-round selection (No. 72 overall) in last month's NFL Draft. Shepherd (6'4", 315) grew up in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, and began his college football career at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, the only NCAA-affiliated school north of the border, in 2011. Financial issues forced him to leave school two years later and pursue factory and construction work for two years. But he never lost his love for the game. He kept training and saved his money and walked on to Fort Hays State's Division II football team. With the Tigers, Shepherd showed great progress as he posted 12.5 tackles for loss as a senior and 10 sacks for his career. His level of honors also kept improving each year — from All-Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association third-team honors in '15 to second-team in '16 to MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and some All-America recognition last season. Titan24
Kid/older kid seems like hard working guy. You find those ultra motivated DL who don’t take things for granted you keep em.... unlike some others that have come this way Wilk(lazy) Sheldon (doesn’t seem to care) wants to get paid.... for? We'll go from there and see. The guy had 6.5 sacks last year in college so the potential is there, then again Gholstan(sp?) had a good amount of sacks in college as well, so we'll see, but UDFAs usually have much higher drive motivation since they are unhappy not being drafted. I live about 10 minutes from Ajax, so cool not only that he got drafted - but drafted as a jet!! I think the last Canuck was Jamal Westerman - hope this works out better lol - although to be fair I’m pretty sure westerman went on to have a very successful CFL career, he still plays for Montreal. Miss Lonelyhearts
I have a hard time trying to look at this pick in a vacuum. Macstupid inherited a roster with one thing -- ONE THING -- going for it and managed to turn it into the most spectacular failures of asset management in economic history. The materiel return of 2, 3, Kearse is sh*t and totally swallowed up by using 6 on Williams. Same with the usual benefits of going cheaper and younger getting drowned out by paying Mo only to replace him with a Canadian senior citizen. Ignore it all because the deuce went into the trade up to 3 if you like, but please know that you are why this team will never ever be any good. Well, it's not this guy's fault that Maccagnan isn't great at his job so, in that respect, I can root for the player in said vacuum. If Darnold is in the pro bowl in the next couple years, a lot of Mac's failings will be forgiven and forgotten (except by Sperm, who will still be posting anti-Mac manifestos). He's got to get better at his job, there's no doubt about that. He needs to build an offense around this QB and add a pass rusher or two. He needs to get better at understanding positional value. Meanwhile, Bowles deserves his share of the blame for not being able to get keep Mo and Sheldon on course.

JetFaninMI
For me Macc is still a suspect GM. He got lucky 3 times with guys falling into his lap in the draft. His other picks aside from Maye are not looking that good right now and he has yet to address the OL IMO. Ignoring a problem will NOT make it go away and he has done that. Yeah, yeah he signed some guys but drafted NONE. WTF? Macc did draft Darnold but lets not forget the rest of his picks have been bad. I hope Shepherd works out andI will be rooting for him as I do all Jet players but stop giving Macc all these accolades for getting lucky three times. Maybe it was the part where you referred to him as a Canadian senior citizen that threw me off. People here sometimes hold a player's draft position against them, or who was left on the board when the player was drafted, etc., and DTs generally take a backseat in that regard only to safeties. So no, that wouldn't've been shocking.

So no, that wouldn't've been shocking. I called Sanchez the worst draft pick of all time, possibly developmentally handicapped, and a girl, and I still rooted for him. If I took the time to be conspicuously nice while being right beyond what relative civility requires it would take me about four times as long to write anything and it's just not ******* worth it. And again you were not thrown off but rather saw in blunt criticism an opportunity to respond with the ol' mommy mommy look at what a good fanboy I am bc I ROOT for my TEAM routine. Don't do that.
