If Woody dumps Rex when he dumped Tannenbaum, Idzik never even gets to the interview stage here. Rex was a massive deterrent toward recruiting.

probably.  funny thing is tanny got dumped when he actually did pretty well after he took over from bradway.  i'm not sure of why he was dumped although the key component was rex.  and the stunt of keeping sanchez that last preseason game was plenty foolish.

Here is the stat, btw:

Winning percentages as head coach of the NYJ:

Eric Mangini: .479

Rex Ryan: .479

Herm Edwards: .488

i was never a herm or mangini hater.  i did buy into rex when the team got to those two championship games.  it's plenty clear he shouldn't have been hired.

I hated Tannenbaum, but he faced the same issue Idzik and Doug Whaley did: ultimately got knifed in the back by Rex. Remember when he went straight to Arthur Blank to get the Falcons job and Dimitroff and Pioli waged a mutiny? No GM was going to hire Rex because they knew his game and that’s why Rex went straight to the owners of both the Falcons and the Bills.

This x 1000

this single Woody move set the team back at least 10 years.

best part was all the Jets fans duped by Rex claiming Rex was a great coach and woody got it right.

The idzik draft truly was a cfl development draft.  Yet another, jarvis harrison is playing for Saskatchewan.

That was a heinous awful draft and idzik deserved to be canned as a result, everything else he did okay imo.  Got lots of picks, jettisoned dead wood.

Don't forget Dimitri Patterson and Percy Harvin.

Ya, I mean we coulda had McGack like 2 years earlier. Can you imagine how many more safeties we'd have today if true?

Idzik’s front office resume:

—Young and talented Bucs team full of future HOFers that wins Super Bowl

—Young and talented Seahawks team full of future Hall of Famers that wins Super Bowl

—Locked in impossible management circumstance by Woody with idiot-in-exile manchild Rex Ryan who got three GMs fired in eight years, which is a record.

—Young and freakishly talented Jaguars team that is contending for a titles with Blake Bortles as their QB

To wit he was the tea boy in all the above, except the Jets, where he was allowed to make the picks. So where is our freakishly talented team?

Buried in your sea of b.s. posts is this single piece of truth.

Woody should have cleaned house in 2012. More than anything else, his failure to do so is what set the team on the course it's been on for the last 6 years. If Rex had been fired along with Tannenbaum, then the caliber of GM candidates at Woody's disposal that year would have been considerably higher.

A real GM would have killed the 2014 draft. And this team would be in much better shape today as a result.

Idzik was the worst thing to ever happen to this franchise.  we had a good coach, we had the opportunity to stockpile talent in that incredible draft and somehow he managed to blow it setting us back at least 5 years.  The moment we went from the good Jets back to the pre Parcells bad Jets was when we fired Tannenbaum and hired Idzik.

The above feels like listening to Lefty’s explanation on Saturday. Deliberately disingenuous and passing the buck.

The only time Idzik was big man on campus, he produced (1) a guy jerking off in a parking lot loaded on synthetic weed, and (2) a guy going 900mph on a highway while high and with a child in the car, (3) 19 picks [5 in the first two rounds] with the only notable player being an 800 yard WR who hasn’t played a single snap during the Oompa Loompa administration.

Walt Powell got picked up by the Jets after he was released.  So you know Idzik liked him too...

Which side of the family tree is Idzik, mother or father?

Thank you. I forgot that he helped build that Cardinals team that went to the Super Bowl in 2008.

No no, thank you for that.

The truly sh*tty part for you is that Mac will go down as the Jets savior while Idzik will always and forever be trash who will never again be trusted to lead anything because he has shown complete ineptitude the one time he got his shot.

But thanks for all that 2015 cap space, bruh!

Ooh, that’s a fun game.

QQ: were there any NFL caliber players on the board when Idzik was picking, and can you play the exact same game with Idzik’s 12 picks and get different results?

Asking for a friend.

Players picked not long after the Jets picks in 2014:

1. Brandin Cooks

2. Davante Adams / Allen Robinson / Jimmy Garoppolo / Jarvis Landry

3. Gabe Jackson / John Brown

4. Martavis Bryant / James White

And that's without much effort ...

Also, the following are now on the Jets roster  :

Quote

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (first round), center Travis Swanson (third), center Spencer Long (third), linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (fourth) and linebacker Avery Williamson (fifth).

The team picking after us being bad at drafting = Idzik being good.

Don't forget we could have had Derek Carr with our first pick. Idzik didn't go QB because of Geno Smith.

Little disingenuous as those picks were made by 7 different teams in aggregate. If those were all made by one (or two) teams, then and only then would it match Idzik’s feat.

Oh hell ya. And while we’re at it let’s kill baby Hitler, buy some cheap Apple stock, and tell George Lucas that three Star Wars films is more than enough.

Idziot shouldn't even get credit for clearing up the cap. The salary structures of the players dumped were set up so that they could be easily cut when Idziot took over. Any of us here could have made the same moves as he did and cleared the cap. That was set up by Tanny, another favorite of Mrs. Idziot.

So you’re saying that all of those things take precedence over you admitting Idzik sucked?

Thats legit. If nothing else, props.

While you’re right, I didn’t wanna go full savage on a Monday morning. Gotta throw dbate and shane a bone for still pumping Idzik after all these years, even in the face of facts.

The pathetic part is that I’ve had to go so low as to using Mac or Jamal Adams as comps to point out just how relatively awful Idzik was.

Lol. I give no quarter when it comes to the Idziot. That boob set this team back more than anyone I can remember since Kotite. And at least Kotite found Chrebet.
