Bridgewater & 6th Rounder traded to Saints for a 3rd Rounder

Recommended Posts

They should have waited, but it's clear they didn't want the $5 million guarantee to kick in once the season started. I'll withhold judgment until I see what draft picks they got.

I'm greedy. Still think they would have gained a second rounder if they had waited for a team that was more desperate. The question is whether it's worth $5 million to upgrade from a third to a second rounder.

My hope of hopes is that the "other element" is an escalator clause that ups compensation to a second rounder if Teddy meets some kind of performance thresholds. I guess that would only apply if Brees got hurt and he became starter.

The sixth rounder is just window-dressing. Getting a third rounder is OK all things considered. This had to be about the money left on Bridgewater's contract and also opening up an extra roster spot.

He also got a first round pick for an injured Revis.

It was Idzik who did that. Now excuse me while I go wash my mouth out after uttering that name.
