NewYorkJets.com reports Minnesota Vikings LB Sam Cowart has played in 85 regular season games throughout his seven-year career, making 73 starts, and has recorded 809 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 25 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, four interceptions, as well as four fumble recoveries. Since being acquired in a trade with the New York Jets, Cowart has been named the team's starting middle linebacker for 2005.

Yeah, EJ Henderson has been a colossal bust. What's your point? It doesn't change the fact that no other teams were willing to part with a pick for Cowart.

You said he wasn't starter material.That's all im saying.

Is there any reason why the Jets didn't try to get EJ Henderson instead of the 7th round pick. Maybe he just needs a little coaching.

Which Cottrell clearly cannot provide.

I doubt they would have considered dealing Henderson. He's young and talented, and I think they are bringing in Cowart partly because of that; they see him as a possible tutor for EJ, and they may think Cowart played that role with Vilma.
