Powerful blocker whose recent 40-yard dash times rekindled interest from pro teams. King was a starter for Northwestern State's 2004 team that set nearly two dozen school records while ranking sixth in Division I-AA in rushing with an offensive line allowing only seven sacks in 12 games. King's 2003 season was cut short by an arm injury. After starting at right tackle for the first half of his junior season, King moved inside to right guard during 2004 spring practice. King, an honor roll student, is also the CEO of 3:16 Records (www.316records.net) which introduced a "maxi single" from "Genesis: The Beginning" Oct. 17, 2003. The 3:16 Records is a gospel record label that originated in 2003. The cuts in the initial release included "Holy Ghost Rider" and "Ballin' in Jesus' Name." King quit school and drove a truck after his sophomore season, then returned to the team as a walk-on and earned a scholarship. Coaches praised him for his maturity and leadership once he returned from his stint as a truck driver. He said he matured during that experience and realized what an opportunity he had to gain an education and pursue a football career.

Second straight year the Jets have signed someone I've watched play, but didn't notice.

Hey, Bit, any word on John Paul Jones, the DT from McNeese State? My cousin once ate crawfish with him.

Offensive tackle Mike King (6-3, 309) has signed with the New York Jets, getting a guaranteed one-year deal after considering other offers. He ran incredible 4.62 and 4.71 clockings in the 40-yard dash during last month's Pro Timing Day at NSU. A 5.0 time is considered very good among NFL offensive linemen.

Might be a nice find. Who knows?

looks like MK be ballin for NYJ for longer than I thought -

you guys realize that in the eyes of the FO (financially) this is like an extra 7th round draft pick - no matter what happens Mike King will get the rookie minimum this year.
