Jets promote RB Henderson from practice squad

Recommended Posts

With the weather tomorrow being heavy rain and winds and without Bilal Powell, the Jets wisely promoted RB Henderson form the practice squad.  I am excited to see what he can contribute as he did show some promise last year with the Broncos.

They released Justin Burris, btw, former 4th rounder who wasn't getting any play even with all the injuries at CB.

Yes. I'm curious to see how this plays out... can't imagine with all our injuries that we can afford to have 4 active RBs... McGuire has to come up off IR eventually, otherwise he'll sit the season out.

IMO - It should be Crowell, and Henderson with Cannon getting chances at a variety of down&distance situations - try and assess what he brings... I just don't see a ton of value w/ McGuire baring the rest sucking at Pass pro

Fellas, I think the Jets are going to surprise the Bears tomorrow. I see Cannon having 100 combined yards from scrimmage on some big chunk plays. Sam Darnold is going to hit so much tight end Sunday, that you'll think your watching Brady back in the day with a healthy Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. Jets defense is going to get to Trubisky and tip the ball for multiple int's. RIP Da Overrated Bears!

When the running back coach compares you to Ladainian Tomlinson, you'll get playing time.

you my friend, have ascended into the biggest blow hard on JN - in RECORD time.

Blah blah Ardarius stewart - this kid can ball - blah blah look at me with my ridiculous name of player who's not even on the team anymore.

You don't know what you're talking about and you never know who McGuire was before the coach told you so.

Releasing Burris was a long time coming. More evidence that Mac has drafted poorly.

DeAngelo Henderson looks good on highlight reels on Youtube.

I can't post any because of the foul language in the song lyrics.

Like the move.

Shame about Burris. Mac's mid round picks are the worst thing about him as a GM. What's weird is that he's pretty good at trades and finding some quality in undrafted players or other teams' scraps. Miss on the CB you actually took, get decent backup production out of the CB you snatched from the Pats waiver wire. (Roberts) This is the way of Maccagnan.

I have to admit, I don't know anything about this guy. Sounds like you're pumped about him getting a shot tomorrow... EDIT Jeez I'm an idiot. Drew a blank on him. This kid played his college ball 10 miles from me. Now I'm excited to see him play also. He was really good for the Chanticleers.

So how many experienced legit skill position players does Sam have tomorrow?

2?

Bears will take Kearse away again and it's going to be a real challenge for Sam just to move the ball

Looking forward to the fire bates threads lol

On paper this doesn't look good, does it? But stranger things have happened. Look at the Buffalo - Minnesota game.

He’s a do it all player. Love his skill set.

Denver only let him go because they had 2 impressive rookies. This guy was impressive for them too. I believe we may have a solid player in him. It might not immediately show tomorrow but I like him going forward.

We have a center that can't snap and bates has him in shotgun all day

Honestly just hoping Sam survives

Keep your chin up, Bunky! Someone gave a good laugh earlier when he said we've predicted Sam will get annihilated before every game this season

Long won’t even play tomorrow. At least we will see clean snaps. I don’t expect wonderful protection though. Hey, maybe. I thought Long should of sat out last game. It can only help the team if he sits.

Henderson is listed at 5'7  thats pretty short.

Crowell is really going to need to step up tomorrow, i know his foot/ankle isn't 1005 but he really needs to handle 25 touches tomorrow and make something happen.

Like you said this guy has whiffed on 3rd round pick WR Stewart, 4th rounder Hansen, etc. But has gotten good production out of UDFA WR Anderson and Kearse through the trade. I'll give Mac a few draft credits on mid rounder below though based on play and current potential:(4th rounders and lower)

5th rounder - RT Shell (Has done well as a starter and can both run block and has mostly handled some of the better edge rushers)

4th rounder - TE Herndon(Appears to be our starting TE and seems to have good catching and blocking ability)

6th rounder - CB Nickerson(Has held his own as slot CB and may continue to develop)

6th or 7th rounder - P Edwards(We seemingly have been looking for a punter as long as we have a QB and found one of the better punters in the league)

Honorable mentions that have played in STs and backup roles and contributed some with more potential then others:

6th rounder-TE Leggett

7th Rounder-WR Peake

6th Rounder-RB Cannon

5th rounder-RB McGuire

Now, the conclusion I am seeing is that with adding all the players working out pretty well with trades, UDFAs, and FA claims, this generally has been filling out the team with some potential and production around the roster and mixing in with the high draft picks that have been going well mostly and the high profile FA signings decent I suppose, it is going to be more on Bowles to get more wins out if this collection between now and the future for him.
