Star Wars....DOA

Worked Moonfest this past Saturday Night, 20,000+ people in Downtown West Palm at a Halloween party. Not one SW costume seen. First time ever in 20 years doing the event. As a former die hard SW nerd, I take notice.

Sunday afternoon, Town Square Kids Halloween party. Not one SW costume.

Just left Target. Happened to walk by the Costume area. Halloween is tomorrow so naturally most of the area is torn apart. They have an entire SW aisle. Untouched and pristine.  LOL.

Great job, Disney. Nobody cares about a once broad spectrum cultural phenomenon.  You succeeded in killing it.

Yeah and really Star Wars is being now pushed back. For other costumes it seems. That is a lot of people my friend 20,000! Wow!

Yeah. Used to be a mess until the city fenced in the entire area and started charging admission.

I have nothing to add here, but it's good to see another PBC representative on here.

I haven't been to moonfest in years since they started to charge. Are they still doing the tokens thing? That was the nail in the coffin for me.

Ah that's actually not bad. One year I went, they didn't take cash in the street, you had to "buy" tokens to use at the vendors, as the night progressed the vendors stopped take the tokens. I was left with a pocket full of tokens unfortunately. Haven't been back since.

I worked the event OT. I dont go near WPB on a weekend anymore unless I'm getting paid.

Funny, scary, and entirely true story. The first shift I worked as Shift EMS supervisor was Moonfest 4 years ago. It was basically a.drunken riot.  First call after dark, I was first on scene to a guy the PD put down in a running gun battle down Sapodilla. I got to the guy first but decided to stand on and secure the bad guys AK-47 that was lying next to him on the ground in Howard Park (Okee & Parker) until the Rescue truck got there. Good times in Wes' Nam.....

They do the same thing out here at certain events. I could never understand the logic to it. Maybe there isn't any.

Nice. I also worked downtown too, for the local county government.

Cash grab would be my guess. Tokens are useless once they stop accepting them and they already have your money.

Yup That's the only thing I can think of. You don't use the token and it's easy money for them. You pais money for nothing.

Years back a friend gave me a $15 Blockbuster gift card. When I went to use it months later it  "expired" . I argued , but it's the same as cash how can it expire, to no avail. Right on the spot I asked for scissors and cut up my blockbuster card. Never went back. The rest is history.

Too bad.

Disney isn't getting another penny from me as far as star wars goes.

I got a kick out of Iger blaming solos box office on star wars fatigue

no Bob, you made a crap movie. Simple as that

It's both though.. I never saw a single review or take on solo but wasnt intereared. I didn't see the last star wars till a recent night of insomnia and it showing up on Netflix. Never sought it out

If the last jedi rocked solo would have done fine.

when a director gives the fans a big FU there are consequences lol

I think we are saying the same thing. To me fatigue = lots of content that isn't very good dating back to the prequel trilogy.

I read your original post as saying Solo did bad solely cause it's a bad movie, when I never even got far enough to find out if it was good or bad. I just dont care about it anymore and view the whole thing as big business trying to line thier coffers by exploiting nostalgia, its not Star Wars to me

Not true about the costumes though. I’m sure you saw a Wookiee in your girls panties that night.

They never should’ve went beyond the original trilogy outside of novels and comic books.

I love the original movies, but I’ve never considered myself a die hard Star Wars fan.

The prequels were complete sh*t outside of the somewhat decent Revenge of the Sith.

The Force Awakens was just a nostalgia grab that turned Han Solo into some loser, dead beat dad still smuggling sh*t in space 30 years after being a hero that basically helped save the universe.

Rogue One was just straight up Star Wars porn without a single interesting character in the whole movie.

I didn’t even bother with The Last Jedi or Solo. Just don’t care where Star Wars goes from here on out. Disney has already milked the franchise bone dry as far as I’m concerned.

Lucas and Spielberg are even doing ANOTHER Indiana Jones movie slated for 2021.

Harrison Ford at literally 80 years old still playing a Nazi fighting, tough and tumble archaeologist...

Holy sh*t I hate Hollywood

I agree.

Then again, the last Transformers only made 800 million.   Good movies are harder and harder to find, but people keep going.
