I don't agree at all about Bell. I think he's got a good 4 years left especially with Crowell, McGuire & Cannon to subsidize his carries. I'd give him 16/17 mill in a heartbeat, you'd get a hell of a lot more production than Mo or Tru.

Bell is a complete cancer, and despite being a very good running back, his effectiveness is greatly enhanced playing in the Piittsburgh offense, where plug-in-a-jag looks like an all pro, and there is some serious tread on his tires. HARD pass. But MacCagnan will likely sign him. He loves old recycled running backs, But you need those young safeties.

He's not that old. So you would be against signing Bell & Tyrell Williams in free agency to add to Quincy & Anderson & maybe drafting the best WR in the 2019 draft at #1?

* I honestly have no idea what the hell Jet fans want anymore? You have 100 million, sign ELITE players. This jag thing isn't working too well for Macc is it? We could sign Bell- Tyrell- LG- Edge rusher EASILY.

Why?  Will the Jets win a playoff game this year?  The Jets had a sh*tty roster when he arrived.  They have a sh*tty roster now.  Yet with all those roster spots sitting for the taking he found almost no usable talent in those rounds.  Was that because we weren't rebuilding?

Dead serious, but that is mostly aimed at Joe Willie's hyperbole.  The fact that a player is not top 20 at a position is not an indicator they should not be signed - unless they are a punter, kicker, long snapper or someone you plan to start at QB.  Role players are important too.

Then we agree.  Anderson is a pretty good example of what you're talking about. He fills a very important role and does his job well. he had that little fumbleitus spell there for a minute but overall he is a pretty solid contributor. Defenses have to account for him. If they don't they will pay, especially now that we have a guy who can truly take advantage of his skill set.

That’s a lot of money tied up into RBs. Crowell is getting paid $5 mil next year. At $23 or so tied into RBs, we’d be $8 mil higher the second ranked team.

The Jets have $100M in cap space next year - and about 30 players under contract. They need to field an entire team. Spending anything close to what Bell wants for Bell would not be the smart way to do that.

A guy like Williams? Sure. Spend on an edge rusher? Yeah. But the Jets don't need the highest priced RB in the league.

Mark Ingram would be a nice consolation prize.

The San Diego Chargers have 6 active players from that category.

The Dallas Cowboys have 8 active players from that category and one on another teams active roster.

The Chicago Bears have 8 active players from that category and two on other teams active rosters.

The Cincinnati Bengals have 10 active players from that category and one on another teams active roster.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have 8 active players from that category.

The Houston Texans have 7 active players from that category and one on another teams active roster.

The Arizona Cardinals have 7 active players from that category.

The Buffalo BIlls have 3 active players from that category and 3 on other teams active rosters.

The Denver Broncos have 7 active players from that category and one on another teams active roster.

The Carolina Panthers have 5 active players from that category and 2 on other teams active rosters.

So, that's 10 teams, selected at random, all of whom have done significantly better in the mid-rounds.  100% of these teams.  Can you find one team that was worse?  Should we start considering that Macc is worst in the league based on this?

Appreciate you doing the digging on this. There is absolutely no way in hell Mac "deserves" to stay he should be Sebastian Janikowskied out the door along with the HC,OC,and DC. Mac is arguably the worst talent evaluator in the league. His drafts have been awful his misses on great players are a constant we need to just move on

FWIW, Steelers were 3.8 YPA on the ground last year, and are 4.3 YPA on the ground this year.

Is this a "pro" Bell point or an "anti" Bell point?  Bell only averaged 4.0 last year, but that was compared to 3.8 for the team.  Conner is averaging 4.7, compared to that 4.3.  Not sure the numbers are particularly persuasive one way or the other, but the Steelers run game is better this year than last and that goes beyond the RB.  Gilbert being hurt may have been a part.

So who are all these old, recycled running backs Macc has liked.  Other than 1?

And you think Bell is similar to Forte?
