LionelRichie Posted November 12, 2018 Share Posted November 12, 2018 Yes, Bowles is going to be the much deserving scapegoat for this abortion of a team but the team lacks NFL talent from top to bottom. The entire roster is in need of an overhaul and our depth is sitting their couches via blown pick after blown pick. It's like the NYJ don't realize that the 2nd rd of the NFL draft is a real thing - Maye, Hackenburg, Devin Smith, Jace Amaro, Geno Smith, Vlad Ducasse. Add in the other misses from '15-'17 with Hansen + Stewart, burris, mauldin, petty and you get an understanding of why they are forced to sign guys off the street to play. Johnson, the big FA 'get' has been absolutely terrible this year and for whatever reason Buster Skrine continues to be employed. Bad players = a bad team. It's really not any more complicated than that. This team needs a Parcells style roster enema and the sooner the better. For whatever reason Macc is 4 years in and continues to try bandaids and 'value' players. Other than Darnold, no one should be safe and whoever takes over needs to find players who can play. It's not scheme, or emotion, or any of the other things we are so quick to blame. this team stinks, the talent level stinks, everything about the NYJ is an unprofessional embarrassment right now. bealeb319 Posted November 12, 2018 Share Posted November 12, 2018 I have seen some flashes of talent from our guys the talent may be there fire Bowles now because that is inevitable and give Mac till the end of the season because there is no sense in fireing him right now, if the players are suddenly good after Bowles is gone than he was the problem. If the team continues to suck bad than they may have both been the problem. The Rams were loaded and Jeff Fisher couldn't do squat. Enter Sean McVay and you had a playoff team 12 months later. Coaches get players to perform and put them in the right position to do so. Those two GM's created the problem not McCaganan, he has been trying to fix things. This team can't be fixed in one year and one draft won't ever fix this team. This team needed a overhaul and McCagnan did that by getting rid of all the bad contracts. This team still needs more work, now that he drafted Darnold, his work is now beginning. He has to now build a oline to protect him and get him the proper weapons that he needs like WRs. Darnold needs a RB to take the pressure off of him when not passing. On defense they need an a pass rushing OLB, ILB, another DE to compliment Williams, NT and a DB to replace Skrine and Claibourne. All these needs can't be fixed in one year!!! As malnourished in talent as we are...we were clearly talented enough(roster wise) to beat Miami and Buffalo these past two weeks. It’s mostly coaching. Kyle Shanahan can make a 3rd string rookie in his first ever start look like Joe Montana.
