If Mac got his way

Yes, there's simply no reason to believe his draft strategy will change.

Every year he seems to think he gets the steal of the draft - by sticking to BPA - problem is, we always end up with interior defensive players (DT, MLB, S) - because no other team is stupid enough  to draft those positions that early.

Exactly, why mac is the worst gm in the entire nfl

right.  imo it's great the jets got darnold but it's not like cousins is the only reason the vikings are struggling.  and when the the whole choice between signing cousins versus trading up for darnold they come up about the same as far as cap implications go.  and had they signed cousins they should've been able to draft some pretty good players with the 6 pick of the first and second rounds of the draft.  the bottom line is a cousins signing could have been easily justified so mac shouldn't be getting killed for trying.

the Vikings have some pretty good players.  The point is we would still have had Cousins.

Macc has to have the best draft he's ever had if he's to stay beyond 2019! If he's in the draft room in 2019 he's gotta hit it OUT OF THE PARK with whatever moves he makes!

If we're sitting at 4/5 he can't miss! Whether he trades back or picks he cannot have a Maye, Stewart & Hansen draft.

The fact that our GM was willing to give a full 90 guarenteed means:

1. Mac was either unable to see Cousins limitations.

Mac drafted Hack in the 2nd round.  It's safe to say that seeing a QB's limitations is not one of his strengths.

Only those who don't know Cousins HORRIFIC record against teams with winning records.

Another stat posted last night on Twitter....

Monday Night Football record: Cousins 0-7

                                             Sam Darnold 1-0

It seems the brighter the lights get, the WORSE this guy gets, and paying $30 Mill a year for that is insane.

Jets dodged a huge bullet when Cousins turned down Maccagnan's panic "try to save my job" move.  What was the incredible urgency for Maccagnan to sign a big money QB this year anyway?  It's because he waited until the angry roar was deafening until he pulled the trigger on a QB.  Mahomes and Watson were right there at 6 the year before but he KNEW that if he whiffed it was his job.  Much easier to take everyone's consensus pick who unfortunately plays a non impact position.

MNF records, thats how I rank QBs, lol

yep.  and the jets would have had the 6th pick in the first and second rounds.  two players may not seem like a lot but two players along with decent coaching and the change would be visible.  plus those players would be on the jets for at least 4 seasons.  in a way it's all about timing too.  getting cousins would almost mandate a win now plan whereas darnold being a rookie will give bowles and co. some slack.

That was a calculated move on Maccagnan’s part.  He drafts Hackenberg in the 2nd Rd.  ALL 100,000 people who go to Penn St games religiously fall over in their chairs laughing in unison...they all can’t believe it.  But somehow Maccagnan saw much more in Hackenberg then the 100,000 who have watched him take every snap in college.

Maccagnan calculated that if he hits with Hackenberg, since he did have all the physical measurables that a Franchise QB should have, outside of not being able to hit the ocean when he tries throwing the ball into water, he’ll look like an absolute Genius, he whiffs....”so what it was just a 2nd Rd pick, I didn’t blow 1st Rd picks like Elway did with Tebow and Lynch”, and he pretty much said just that when the heat really started coming down on him.

Maccagnan would hold back on taking a QB in the 1st Rd until the last possible second, until it meant his job, that’s why he looked the other way on Watson and then Mahomes using “safe” consensus picks, the fact that the players didn’t play impact positions didn’t matter to Maccagnan...it was all about protecting His job...forget the Jets future or their fans....and that’s the main reason the guy has to be sh*tcanned along with Bowles.

Then rank the guy for everything else he hasn’t won.  The Monday night stats of Cousins show a definite correlation of him not being able to beat teams with winning records. Only thing he has won is his contract.

No, thats the simplistic way of looking at things.  As if the QB is the one solely responsible for wins and losses.

Fouts, Marino and all the other greats who didnt win the ultimate game

Of course the QB is not solely responsible for wins and losses.  But when you see a QB, any QB go 0-7 in prime time TV games ie Monday Night football, if you can’t see there is probably a problem with that QB then I don’t know what to tell you.

But if you’re trying to equate Cousins with 2 QBs who were good for double digit wins and guaranteed playoff appearances in their sleep you’re not even worth arguing with.

Cousins isn’t in the same stratosphere as Marino and Fouts...and the Jets are very lucky that Maccagnan’s panic move to save his job and sign Cousins didn’t go through.  Cousins will never see a Super Bowl and probably never lead a deep run in the playoffs which Marino and Fouts did many times but he will have 100 mill in the bank thankfully courtesy of Minnesota.  At least the Jet dunces can use the money on multiple players..and hey, like a stopped clock they might even hit a time or 2 instead of having it all rolled up in an average QB.

Are you kidding? Leo and Adams shocked a lot of experts by falling into our laps and Lee as much as people give him crap was a lateish first round pick? At what point is it acceptable to draft a linebacker?

MNF.  Has nothing to do with anything more than another football game other than its on MN.

Jets vs Pats on a MN is no different, other than its a national TV game, than the same matchup played one day earlier on a sunday

Very vocally wanted nothing to do with Cousins. Had he taken Woody's money, he probably would've saved Bowles' job this year with something like a 7-win season - winning the games he should, losing to winning teams with his career consistency. All for $30M/year guaranteed. I'd rather have Darnold at $30M over four years and the coach behind Door #2, thank you very much.

Exactly the point - There's a reason they dropped - teams don't draft interior defensive players that low - unless they're explosive - can't miss types. and even then it should only be by teams that have other position filled.  Williams was a very bad pick - Adams was also bad considering we didn't have a QB and there was a good one they passed on...

They expected Williams to go top 5 which he should have. My jaw dropped when the redskins did not select him. Adams asked why he even came in to be seen by the jets because he was expected to go in the top three. These were outstanding prospects Adams is showing us that every game as he keeps getting better to the point where he is a legitimate game changer. Because they are not the guys you liked doesn't mean they were not the best prospects available

Yes because that plan was executed so well in 2015.

Not saying it is, like I said Macc has done little to build a sustainable winner through the draft like he's preached since getting here.  My point was that it's tough to just compare what the team looks like now vs. if we would've signed Cousins.
