Bell or draft?

Buy Le’Veon Bell for big bucks or draft a running back this year?

Reason I ask is becsuse I’m skimming through the RB’s entering the draft and I don’t like Bryce Love as a 3 down back..Damien Harris isn’t worth a high pick..I like Benny Snell JR... Justice Hill is undersized.. I just don’t see a lot of top tier talent for RB’s in this draft. Dave Singletary is like 5’7 and reminds me of MJD but he’s more of a 5th-6th round pick and can’t be expected to be a #1 RB right away.

Jonathan Taylor from Wisconsin is going to be an animal but he comes out in 2020.

So what would you rather do?

Huge money on a free agent RB is dumb in this day and age. RB by committee is the smart way to run a backfield. But should Maccagnan shock the world and draft a stud RB in the third round, ride him. That's cool. The Jets have all this money because they have no one under contract. That $100M is gonna dry up fast just resigning who needs to be resigned and filling some additional holes. If they splash, it should be on an edge rusher.

Fowler has like 4 sacks doesn't he? Who are you paying big money to in free agency?

I say sign Bell. You have a QB on a rookie QB and he needs weapons. Focus on the Oline. Get a stud WR in here. Get Bell in here. Let's go.

This is the issue that I have. Can Maccagnan identify and draft a future #1 RB?

Bell to the Jets feels like it's happening

Macc has finished 2nd multiple times and bell is going to the highest bidder, period

I also read that Bell would not have taken the stance he did with the steelers unless he knew someone would meet his price

I think that someone is the Jets

If the Jets can draft that Florida OT or the brown kid in the first and more or less make the whole off season about building around Darnold it could work

If they spread the resources around and hope bell will carry them it could go south real fast lol

The good news is that paying top dollars to a free agent RB is the equivalent of drafting a safety at #6 overall, so pretty safe to assume that the GM who chased and was spurned by Kirk Cousins will be at Bell's house with a blank on day one of free agency.

Me? I respect Bell's right to sit out the year to protect himself and get paid, but I don't want the Jets to be the team to pay him. Hopefully he just uses the Jets to up his price. I'm fine with that.

Bell

I’m not rolling the dice on the Jets landing some impact RB in the later rounds.

Also, this FA class is sh*t at WR and OL...so how the hell are we even upgrading the offense in the slightest if we don’t sign Bell? You know our 1st round pick is going to be a passrusher. It’s pretty much written in stone.

So what are we surrounding Darnold with in 2019? The same sh*t as this year + some rookie 3rd round RB?

Sign Bell

Colts have a better future than us, more money and Bell said it would be unbelievable to play with Andrew Luck. I think it’s between the Jets and Colts.

Colts would have to pull out before we win that bidding war.

This.  What else are you going to spend it on?  Everyone else has money too.  This team has so many freaking holes it's not even funny.  We have the least amount of players signed to contract in the NFL for 2019.  They're not going to fill every single position this offseason.  IMO the one thing we cant gamble on (and Big Mac hitting on a skillz player in the draft are the longest odds ever) is surrounding Darnold with weaponz and Bell is one of the most dangerous in the league.

Bell. Bc they have the money/cap and still need so much on offense, I’m actually ok with Bell plus top 4 picks all offense. Would actually prefer it

Bell, a FA WR (Jamison Crowder, Tyrell Williams, Adam Humphries), and a lot of OL.

Unfortunately the draft is dictating we take a DL in the 1st but it could be a stud if we get lucky like Ed Oliver or Josh Allen.  Rest of the draft offense.   Preferably with Deebo Samuel somewhere in there.

Hess and JiF for co-GM's

  • Sign Bell
  • Draft the best WR you can with your top pick (even if it's a reach)
  • Draft O-line and sign O-line with rest of your money and picks
  • And go with whatever defense you can cobble together

If the WR isn't a bust and two of the O-linemen are upgrades --- you all of a sudden have a competition NFL offense.  It can be done but they have to commit to offense - which I have no reason to believe they will..

OL first last foremost.

I don't think our running game was a big problem this year. Needs improvement sure, but playcalling and our Guards were a bigger problem. I'd rather buy a couple road graders for our ensemble next year if possible, and address RB in the draft with the likes of Benny Snell and/or Dexter Williams..

but, there is truth to the FA class offering little in the OL/WR department (yet, anyway)... so I'd rather spend the money on bell, then waste it if the options are non existent. Have to see what it looks like in feb to make an educated choice

You bring bell in, you bring his agent in, you bring in a guy who tells each of the 53 on your roster that the NFL that the NFL is corporatist slaveholder bullsh*t that every player should resist with every fiber of their being until they have a new, socialist CBA and all of a sudden guys are sitting out with “abdominal strains” and you’re 4-12 until the end of time.

He's a hybrid... Don't forget he's an amazing receiver ... All that said I agree ... Draft

Didn't several of them learn a similar lesson taught by professor Muhammad Wilkerson?  The lecture was different, but the answer on the exam was the same.

It doesn't matter, man.  The NFL is a business.  Inescapable reality.

If the Jets want to win and help Sam Darnold, Le'V Bell will bring the greatest return on the investment.

I really like the idea of Adam Humphries.

I love Benny Snell but what do you think about his speed on the next level?

Not Paradis but I'm not getting the Snell love that is being thrown around. I've watched a grand total of two of his games and I don't see that game changer type of back. Looks more like a plodder to me.

He seems kind of slow. That’s my main concern He has good vision and can break tackles..reminds me of Doug Martin but I don’t think he fits what we do in the WCO. I think a quicker back like the Iowa State RB, T0m mentioned. He glides around and finds holes. Benny was good in a few of the games I watched but when it’s combine time, I think he’ll drop.
