I just read a tweet stating that he's facing banishment from the league for substance abuse.

Didn't want to speculate that, hoping it wasn't the case but given his history you had to at least strongly consider the possibility.  Shame, by all accounts a good guy and the talent is obvious.  Thanks

Cue the Flounder sound bite:

"This is gonna be neat!"

Nothing tickles me fancy more than that cheating franchise going down in flames in the playoffs!

This isn't really about the Pats, it's about someone with deep problems.

If he made this decision in his own than I have a lot of respect for him. It is a shame the kid is super talented but could never seem to get his life together. A lot of talented players seem to have these problems Justin Blackmon was another wr with endless potential but suffered from similar issues.

Either I don't get the tweet or that is weird.

Anyway, considering the midseason trade those numbers are better than the Jets WR's!

This is sad. The man is so talented, and had the chance for a wonderful career. He could’ve made enough money to change his family’s lives for generations. His lack of self discipline/ addictions threw it all away. I wish the best for him, but it’s a battle he has to want to win. Nobody else can fight it for him.

Hey Bill - we got a 21 yr old qb with tons of potential, a top 5 pick and $100 + mil of CAP space.  We even have this weird unshaven guy with glasses who snorts coffee grains all day.  I’m sure he’d be more than happy to wash your boat.

Sorry, no sympathy for a millionaire athlete that can't stay away from the weed. My son in law almost died a month ago, lost his job, has 3 children, f*ck Josh Gordon! could give a sh*t about the loser azzhole!

He's walking away to work on things - before the league tosses him - and they will - possibly forever.

Too bad the kid couldn't get his act together - he's a major talent.

That said - this additional dishevelment thrust on the now crumbling cheating pieces of sh_t known as the Patriots is delightful.

I’m not sure how those two things are related but I hope your son in law gets the help he needs.

Josh Gordon needs to focus on fixing Josh Gordon. I hope he has the proper support structure to help him do it .

Oh yeah! F-U Pats!

I'm extremely sympathetic to drug abuse and mental health issues...

But for Christ sake ITS F*CKING POT!!!!!!!!!?

I've known some really dedicated pot heads in my day and if you handed any of them a 10 year career worth 10s of millions of dollars, they would probably give it up!

For some people with serious mental health issues, pot isn't about pot and getting high like it is for your buddies.

I still have no idea why the NFL feels like it needs to police it's own players for non performance enhancing drugs. Marijuana is legal, in one form or another, almost everywhere (if not legal the police look the other way). Bankers/Judges/Politicians can use as much pot as they want but not an NFL player who gets repeatedly injured throughout the year and many times suffer from mental issues.

If a players gets arrested for illegally using marijuana and you want to suspend him for that, sure, but there is no reason to test for it.

It's in the CBA.

You work for any big company, they have rules, and you have to follow them.  You can work for the NFL, make millions of dollars, and can't do certain illegal activities, which they will test for.  You know it in advance, so if you (the player) can't follow the rules you were informed of, too bad.
