Christopher Johnson

Recommended Posts

Chris Johnson may be the best thing to ever happen to this organization. He's moving quickly & decisively. You can see that there is an offensive lean, and he's making it very clear Sam Darnold must be the #1 priority.

Jets will be aggressive in free agency & the draft to improve this offense! That is very clear!

The days of a safety picked 1 & 2 left on Monday when Bowles was shown the door!

If Woody is Fredo, Chris Johnson is like Pauly. The guy at the start of the movie leering at all those cash filled envelopes and twenty minutes in he's slumped over next to a box of Cannoli

Bowles was in charge of the draft?  Did Maccagnan listen to Bowles?  If he did why is MM still the GM?

He's going to do the same thing with the new coaching staff he did with Bowles. What do you need to succeed? Bowles tried literally to recreate his defense in Arizona. Problem was the players available were not as good as what he had + Bowles is absolutely a horrific coach & developer of talent & it manifested itself as each year was worse than the last after Rex.

Lee, Jenkins, Williams, Adams, Maye. Only Adams was a "Dawg". Lee was no Buchanan, Williams was no Cailais Campbell, Maye has been hurt all of the time.

Getting the right offensive people in here, with a vision of what they want & who they can DEVELOP on offense will be huge! I'm telling you guys right now, Rogers was so bad the defense was already screaming UNCLE. After 4 years they still looked like a Chinese fire drill or the Three Stooges running around aimlessly. It's a new day when we finally get an experienced DC who has actually had some SUCCESS in this league.

All you need to know:  Chris Johnson reiterated the other day that both the HC and GM will report to him.  So, continuing a  failed policy which led to the Bowles/Mcc debacles.    No way McCarthy comes here under those terms.  None.  Maybe if Johnson wakes up and fires Mcc.  But otherwise forget it.

Best case scenario McCarthy tells Chris/Woody he only takes job if Maccagnan is fired.

@Creepy Lurker

My thoughts exactly.  After what went down in GB, McCarthy will want control.  Plus, McCarthy isn't dumb.  He's gone and reviewed Mcc's draft history and relationship with Bowles.  No way he even entertains working under Mcc.

McCarthy has already stated he doesn't want FULL CONTROL, it's too difficult. He wants to COACH. Macc is not an authoritarian GM here in NY.

Why cant you guys understand this? Bowles is a bad coach, horrible in fact, did you see our defense running around aimlessly last week? It was comical. Bowles/Rogers were on Kotite level. Except I honestly think Kotite was smarter. The only reason Todd Bowles got a chance to be a head coach is because there are still organizations that are as STUPID as the NY Jets!

The other 1 is the Bengals. Can you imagine if after firing Marvin Lewis they bring in Vance Joseph? How would like to be a Bengals fan if that scenario comes to fruition?

Which member of the Jets F.O. is Luca Brasi?

Reporting directly to ownership, bypassing any type of GM (legitimate or Mac-foolish) is a plus for McCarthy, not a negative.  It removes a pesky potential obstacle.

Why does having a triangle of power hurt the Jets? You have free agency & you have the draft, then UDFAs.

When has having a group meeting to throw ideas around, come to a consensus about the direction, types of players, areas of weakness being discussed a bad thing?

From what I'm seeing regarding these early interviews is that FINALLY we have a franchise QB and we are going to do everything in our power to bring the offense into the new era of football. Could the past 8 years been any worse to watch?

Negative Nellies here are ridiculous! Now I could see being negative if we kept Bowles (OMG), or we were still heading into 2019 with McCown at QB but we're heading into 2019 with a 22 year old phenom, Woody has given Chris his blessing to try & fix the team, we're seeing an offensive lean, we're interviewing interesting offensive candidates, we have a boatload of money & the 3rd pick in the draft. On top of that Miami is a mess, the Bills have an inaccurate QB (does that ever change?), and the Patriots are definitely showing cracks in their armor. If they don't win a Super Bowl this year, I believe it's over for them going forward. Especially if McDaniel takes the Green Bay job.

What is everyone's deal with all of the pessimism?

There are plenty who think they know.

Fans only know enough to formulate opinions based on perception and info that is available to them. I’ve personally seen enough to have an opinion of Mac. Some opinions are easier to make than others. This one was simple to me. All we can do is wait and see what happens with this team.

It's very well possible.  Think about it.  Where else? Cleveland??  He has probably had it with Diva QBs like Rodgers.  You think he's going to get along with Mayfield?  No way.  He sees the qualities in Darnold and will take the Jets job.

It's because we have an owner making football decisions - an owner that hasn't been around football is entire life.  An owner whose agenda may not have winning as his top priority.

Since Chris has taken over the Jets have regressed - which is truly hard to believe considering how bad things were.  Being forced to start over because of ineptitude isn't a reason to celebrate.

It gets worse. I've heard rumours that they are seriously considering Hue Jackson. If I were a Bungels fan I'd be on suicide watch.

So a coach with a big ego, would prefer to report to the GM instead of directly to the owner? That makes no sense.

Almost some. Allegedly, the family is blaming it on long term use of J&J Talcum Powder and he'll be part of that class action suit. Might also explain Woody too.

Maye was their best pick since Darnold. Unfortunately he's been hurt but as 2nd Rd picks go, he was a good pick...
