Ralph Vacchiano "Mike McCarthy is still a candidate for the Jets' job"

These reporters make up more stuff than how often the weather changes. They say all these things and as someone pointed out earlier, not one of them knew he was in NJ eating dinner with the Jets. They throw all sorts of stuff out there because it doesn’t make a difference if they are correct or not. We can all come to our own conclusions, but the facts may or may not come out after the hire is made.

https://www.sny.tv/jets/news/the-latest-on-jets-coaching-search-mike-mccarthy-considered-a-favorite-as-interviews-continue/302274364

Jan. 6, 5:49 PM:

Mike McCarthy is still a candidate for the Jets' job, an NFL source told SNY.tv's Ralph Vacchiano, and as far as the team knows, the former Packers coach has not made any big decisions about his future. There has always been a chance that he'd choose to sit out the 2019 season, as one report on Sunday said he planned to do. But after interviewing him on Friday and Saturday, the source said, the Jets believe he's still interested in their job.
That could always change, but for now it does appear that McCarthy has "warmed" to the idea of coaching the Jets, as one source told SNY on Saturday. The only two jobs he's currently planning to interview for are the Jets job and the Browns job. He postponed his interview with the Browns a few days ago, but it is expected to take place this week.
McCarthy does still appear to be a favorite, particularly of Jets CEO Christopher Johnson, according to a source. The Jets went into the search hoping to find an experienced head coach with an offensive mind and someone who could help develop young quarterback Sam Darnold and energize their fan base. The 55-year-old McCarthy would seem to check all of those boxes.
But the Jets are going to continue their extensive search at least through this week, before deciding whether they're going to bring in any candidates for a second interview. So far they've interviewed McCarthy, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and former Dolphins coach Adam Gase. They were in Dallas to interview Cowboys DBs coach Kris Richard on Sunday and will interview Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken on Tuesday.
They also may interview Baylor coach Matt Rhule, and they are hopeful USC will change its mind and let them talk to Trojans offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
You ducking idiots. He’s Negotiating.

Can someone please tell me why everyone here think mike mccarthy is so good? his offence scheme sucks, horrible game management. Has not won in last three year and he not a  creative  football mind

Read about 15,000 posts here in about 20 different threads. It's been debated ad nauseam. You can't just come in here 2 weeks into the debate and start at square one man. lol

Read the threads and join in if you'd like. There's quite literally enough written on JN about why some think McCarthy is a good choice to write a book.

Just some more mindless fodder.  Everyone focuses on McCarthy but the question is equally important what does Chris Johnson think?

From ESPN’s Rich Cimini:

One league source told me Jets CEO Christopher Johnson is “enamored” with McCarthy, who certainly is the most accomplished coach on the team’s list. His offensive background appeals to the Jets, who want someone who can nurture quarterback Sam Darnold.

The rumor going around right now is that Cleveland is going to hire the Colts defensive coordinator.  Don't know if that's true of course.

I saw the same thing in Clutch Points:

The Cleveland Browns’ offseason kicked off early, as they were not able to reach the playoffs, though, that does not mean that they aren’t busy these days. Among the things that are keeping them occupied is their search for the team’s next head coach. In a report by Dustin Fox of ESPN, the Browns seem to be zeroing in on Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

That's the only thing that matters Chuck .

Just my impression of him but Sam seems to be an easier guy to work with than Rodgers. That could change especially with success but he seems more coach able than both Rodgers and Mayfield. And not a guy on an intense ego trip. I can’t see Sam blowing off a play call by McCarthy if he doesn’t like the call. And we all saw the behavior of Mayfield to Hue Jackson.

Wrong! Not one has explained how he does to a rookie and does better than he did with ARogers. To think he could is foolish

because: 1. he's coached in the NFL before 2. he's had success coaching in the nfl before 3. he's won a super bowl.

WTF more do you need? Is this that difficult?  You see the other options?  A pile of losers and a long list of Future Todd Bowles of the NFL...

Bell cow running backs don't have 3 MCL injuries in 2 years. Maybe McCarthy was correct in limiting his carries. Because as of right now, Jones is a China doll
