Nobody thinks Sam is a great NFL QB right now, but after 1 year, what past great NFL QB does Darnold most remind you of?

(Again, we're not saying Darnold is as good as these players, we are talking about skillset or a style of play)

Favre, or Elway, for his escapability.

I made a post about this sometime ago, Joe Montana. From early beginnings and background to skill set, to demeanor.

I don’t remember how Troy Aikman played but I remember Farve and Sam has a good little bit of Farve in him.

Not sure about any of those.  He reminds me of Luck, when luck is playing well.

I didn't like any of those choices. I see many Arron Rogers traits, without the arrogance.

A combination of Rodgers and Brady and Elway.

Favre Sam's a gunslinger.

Only difference is Favre is more of a selfish gunslinger (not meant derogatory -he believes HE is great).  My opinion, of course.

Sam is more reckless because he expects his WRs to make plays, not so much about him as being a great QB.  Sam is more dependent on using his talent.

He’s like a mix of Vick’s legs, Favres arm,’Manning’s brain and long rod larry’s Unit

None except for maybe Favre

He reminds me the most of a hybrid between Rivers, Romo and Rodgers.

Good to see you back.

I’ve thought about this for awhile. Kelly seems the most logical. Good enough arm to make any throw, cerebral, good feet, can make plays out the pocket, good leader, quick decision maker/reads  progressions well. Hopefully Sam will win the big games.

Kind of agree with this.

Montana -

Smart and doesn’t get rattled

Moves in the pockets but isn’t a runner

Good ball placement and touch

Can make all the throws but doesn’t have a cannon

Just looked at the results so far. Did Favre have Sam's mobility? And does Sam have anything close go Favre's arm?

I get that it's an interesting topic to discuss, I'm not knocking the thread at all, but would it be so horrible if Sam was just Sam Darnold?

They have similar mobility but Sam’s arm isn’t as strong. Brett had a fast ball and he was also a lot more reckless.

I'm hoping Sam cuts down on some of the mistakes and isnt as well known for his ints as Favre was. That being said, if the rest of his game matches favre's I'll probably be able to live with high(er) int totals.

Glad to see you back, Helen. I appreciated your different take as a Sam fan and not a Jets fan.
