NY doesn't have a team?   (I'm assuming every team in the league would play week 1).

EDIT: Teams I'd be most likely to adopt based on city would be San Diego, Arizona and Memphis.  I just looked at the ex-Jets though and I'll probably have to choose between Memphis (Hackenberg) and Atlanta (Matt Simms).

I'm with you too. I'm just curious

IIRC, it took Doug Flutie about a decade before he got good enough to really make a difference (in a positive way) in the NFL.

I don't know how teams already have players to "protect" but it looks like some teams make picks and some teams have chosen to protect players.

Isn't this the exact same way @TomShane hyped his own return from his JN hiatus?

Damn.

Singletary is the head coach?

Hack has no chance with that dolt.

Singletary has the crazy eyes like Gase.

Yep...I've got a small wager on Atlanta +5 1/2 for the hell of it.

I figured that's a lot of points to get when no one really knows anything about these teams.

So I guess I'm an Atlanta fan?

P.S.  when googling this league at work, make sure you type in AAF.com....not AFF.com, don't make the same mistake I did.

I was going to joke "only having to give 5 1/2 with Spurrier coaching is like getting free money" until I realized they're the underdog.

LMAO at your website typo.

-8 team league that runs through April 27th. 10 weeks of regular season. 4 teams make the playoffs.

-4 games every weekend. 2 games on Saturday. 2 games on Sunday. One game starts at 4 the other starts at 8 (except for tonight).

-The goal of the league is to be quick and offensive. Every team has to go for two. There are no kickoffs. Every team gets the ball on the 25-yard line. Instead of onside kicks, a team gets to attempt a fourth-and-10 from its own 35-yard line and keeps the ball if it converts, otherwise the other team takes over.

-There are 30 second play clocks instead of the normal 40 in NFL.

-The league is deemphasizing offensive holding. This could be very funny.

-There are some CFB “legends” playing. Trent Richardson, Trevor Knight, Christian Hackenberg (somehow a starter), Aaron Murray, Stephen Hill (sorry for the reminder he exists, Jets fans), Scott Tolzien, Zach Mettenberger, Garret Gilbert

-The coaches ain’t too bad either: Steve Spurrier (!!!!), Mike Singletary, Rick Neuheisel.

I got me some over's in tonight's games.  I get the feeling that it could get reset to a higher number down the road.  In any case, it's the first game of the season so teams are probably not settled in plus we've got Steve Spurrier on one sideline.  I have to think that will be worth some points.

I'm watching both games free from the AAF's website via streaming.  Looks like amateur hour: games starting late, graphics, audio come and go. I guess they skimped on rehearsals to save $$$

What are the official links?  I'm watching via YouTube.

Just for fun I checked the prices of their merch.  Not cheap at all (e.g. $30 for a t-shirt) .  It's ridiculous for them to try to shake down football fans like that

It’s 2019. 30 clams is pretty standard, old man.

A basic Jets' t-shirt (using with the regular, not discounted, price) from NFLShop.com is $29.99.  Meanwhile, the Birmingham Iron also charge $29.99 for one of their t-shirts.

So you're saying the AAF (which is basically a minor league system for the NFL) should charge the same prices that the NFL does?!  That's what you're defending here?!

AAF sets royalty rates manufacturers set the price

Regardless of who sets what prices, I'm confident that it's ridiculous for the price of AAF merch to be as much as NFL merch.  Certainly the AAF could have worked out a take-it-or-leave-it deal with the manufacturer saying what the max price should be (else they'd find a new manufacturer).

Thank you for further displaying the dilemma in jpegs and links. That you think $30 for a t-shirt is a lot of money says a bit more about you than it does the actual cost of the merchandise. I think you may want to sit back and consider that it's 2019, not 1989.

My point is that AAF merch should be cheaper than NFL merch.
