The patriots just won a super bowl playing great defensively against an offensive powerhouse

After they had someone shoot out Todd Gurley's knee cartilage with a military grade laser rifle from a grassy knoll near the Rams' practice facility.

Oh...it's time for my meds.  Be back in a bit.

It isn't.

You still need to add good players in FA.

Whofans, welcome back, thanks for this extremely hot take.

Teams, need to add good players in FA.  Solid.  Ground breaking really.

Surprising that the Texans put the tag on Clowney because they are getting close to having to resign Mercilus, Hopkins and others. That's why I thought they might not

Hopkins > Clowney > Mercilus.

Could be a tag and trade of Clowney.... MacDaddy has a relationship with Houston.

Hold out, unless a long term deal is made.... IMO

He's DEFINITELY holding out! Once Watson is paid that team is f*cked with Watson, Watt, Hopkins, Clowney.

Yeah they are not going to able to keep them all, along with Watt's massive salary. So something has to give

OMG let it be Hopkins, please!

Seriously though...they have a ton of cap room right now so they can play some games.  I guess when Watson's up for his turn at the $30MM/year starting QB contract they'll have to figure some stuff out.

thats classic irony, there.

Many, many players were impressed by Darnold. He was getting a lot of love after games, NFL is a small fraternity, Macc has the money & has 3 aces in the hole with Darnold & Williams (a tough well respected defensive coach) and the money to lure a few free agents our way.

Hopkins already sign

2017 season. On August 31, 2017, the Houston Texans signed Hopkins to a five-year, $81 million contract extension with $49 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $7.5 million.

No wonder AB wants out of Pitt..... His contract is outdated as compared to what other young studs being paid!

Hopkins was already resigned he's under contract till '23.  Mercilus doesnt break the bank.  They have 80 mil in cap space.  They can easily afford this.

How did you get there from the fact that he's the 2nd-highest paid WR in the league?  The guaranteed number is much lower but he's in year 3 and nobody has much guaranteed money left by year 3 of a 5-year deal.  This is not about comp.  This is about the Steelers having the temerity to allow other players to catch passes and score TDs.

What I was alluding to is that it's a lot easier getting another big contract at 31 rather than the 34 he will be in 2022.

This is the reason he started "acting up" in the hopes of getting released or traded to a team looking to negotiate a new deal.

Sorry.  Didn't get that the first time.  Valid point.

If the world made any sense, players would have to refund the pro-rated portion of their signing bonuses when they pull this crap.  The team shouldn't have to be punished with dead cap money whenever a player decides he's not feeling 'the love' anymore from the contract he happily signed 2 years ago.  AB could have signed a 3-year deal back in 2017 but he wanted the bigger signing bonus a 5-year deal afforded him (even though it was unusually low by current standards).  I wouldn't shed a tear for him if he spends next season eating pizza on Sundays watching the JJ Schuster-Smith rack up 15 TDs.

Yeah let's consider the real victims in instances like this, the owners.

Hoping Deontay Burnett follows the same career path as Shuster-Smith

I'm talking about the impact on the salary cap that hampers a team when a player pulls this.  This in turn affects the fans.  I don't care about the owners' money any more or less than I care about the players' and I don't think that was at all unclear.  Don't go all Norma Rae here please.

I'm so affected right now. Raging affection.
