Signing Houston to a 2 year, cheaper deal and drafting Allen/Bosa puts us in an equally advantageous position. This goes double if it means we hit on both Bell & Paradis.

Not equally, no.  Signing Barr freed us up to trade back.

Why?  Only 1 of those 2 have any ability to get to the QB off the edge.  Mosley plays a non-premium position, and is better in a 4-3 than the 3-4.

Much, much rather would have had Barr than Mosley, if we could only choose one.

Exactly this. Barr signing seemed like reasonable money and if he was going to be a rusher at OLB was a need in a big way. Mosley is an overpay at a position of a much lesser need. There is no good way to spin this spurning. Macc’s cupcakes fail again.

Updating an earlier report on Anthony Barr, reports are now saying that when the signing period starts tomorrow he will stay with the Vikings.

Plot twist! LB Anthony Barr has decided to agree to terms to remain with the #Vikings, sources say. He will not be a member of the #Jets after all.

Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Jets will turn their attention to a bigger offer for Le’Veon Bell.

With Anthony Barr spurning the #Jets, they have some extra money. I’m told they’ve taken some of that money and made a last and final big offer to Le’Veon Bell. It’s decision time for the ex-#Steelers RB.

Its not a devastating blow for sure. Still Houston is out there and we will get a stud in the draft at #3. Now we have $14M extra to play with for Paradis and Bell which would help this team way more than Barr and is his 4 sacks a year. Hell Jenkins is more productive.

Right. I do think Barr couldve been an effective rusher here though

Of course he could have. He's a very good player and we wanted him. There were a few guys who openly said they didn't like the move, but most of us did. Any swing back to the other side is the natural defense mechanism Aesop so eloquently wrote in his Fable "The Fox and the Grapes"   Sour Grapes anyone?

ONE hot summer’s day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. “Just the things to quench my thirst,” quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: “I am sure they are sour.”

“IT IS EASY TO DESPISE WHAT YOU CANNOT GET.”

Disappointing, but that is Free Agency.  Says something about the guy and his agent if he agreed to terms with the Jets and then reneged.  Use some of that extra $$ to close the deal with Paradis and I can live with it,

Biking fans should gloat. Last year they did the same with Cousins and it backfired with Cousins. While we drafted a young QB who looks like he is gonna be a bigtime player

Yes they got over on the Jets and made it to the playo..... oh wait teehee!

Who at LB?

Justin Houston is still out there.  Not necessarily interested in going right after a linebacker at this point.  Barr and Moseley may have been overkill, especially at the cost of dumping Lee for next to nothing.  I want him back for one more year, especially at 1.7 million.  Redirect the money from Barr to Bell and or Paradis,  the signing of Barr kind of handcuffed us from pursuing other free agents, especially these two, if we had plans of getting them both.

who cares? 1/6 of your salary cap on linebackers would be silly. Big ticket free agents hurt teams not help them. Every one we sign is 2 or 3 less players in depth and if NE has shown us anything is that depth and QB play NOT big ticket star players win championships.
