Let me say this...
If we don't get Paradis and/or Bell and seems to be clearly used by Barr to get more money out MN.
This FA's is a disaster and Mac should be fired on the spot.
We still got cj mosley who is a perennial probowler who will help change the culture of our defense. We took a gamble on an all pro guard who we traded a fifth for and got a 6th in return. We got Sam darnold one of the best slot receivers in free agency who we admittedly overpaid. Barr walking away to stay with a team he is familiar with sucks but that isn't something our front office can help and so far they have had a productive couple of days.

Look who’s spinning now boi

Barr stung but got to find the silver lining..  looks like he got similar money to what was reported the Jets offered so can't blame him too much.

We just have to face it, players don’t want to come here.  Last year we got spurned several times with players taking less money to go elsewhere.

Barr didn’t want to come here.  Mosley didn’t want to come here and only when we grossly over paid him did he (if he stays).  Bell wants to go to Balt.  Paradis wants to stay in Denver.

Two years in a row with $100M to spend.  Last year the only relevant signing was a replacement for Demario Davis.  And this year it looks like it’s Lee’s replacement.  Kind of hard to be a good team when the only hole you fill is one you create.

I went into this offseason (unlike last year) with no expectations.  Yet I am still disappointed.

What if we hired a legitimate NFL HC - like McCarthy, allowed that HC to hire his own DC, fired the GM who, over his 4 year tenure, built one of the worst rosters in NFL..

If we actually had an organization with even a base level of competence, players might want to come here.

Anyone saying there's nothing we can do about that is simply wrong.  If Mike McCarthy was the HC this wouldn't be happening.

Are you drunk? McCarthy sucks. SOOOO Williams one of the most sought out Def Coordinators is not good because you think Gase didn't pick him by himself?

True the roster sucks but we don't have a bunch of trash holding us down either...we can cut and pick up guys. I get hating on the jets because the guy you never heard of that Macc got, has now backed out. But give me a break.

Let me tell you what would be happening if ol Mike McCarthy was the HC. Barr would still back out and McCarthy wouldn't even notice because he would be too busy thanking the lord or whatever higher power he prefers.

God damn this is the first time we have had a legitimate head coach since forever. Gase wasn't my first pick either but you are ridiculous with this post.

Is everyone on the same menstrual cycle period.

Up until yesterday everyone despised our GM. Everyone hated how he completely neglects the offense. Then it’s like 2015 (genius, best GM in football) people are posting positive McCaggan themes. This, despite spending big on defense, signing a #3 WR and trading for a G coming off of his worst year (a good trade in my opinion).

Now it turns out the Barr signing was never a done deal (thanks to quick to judgement reporting) and all of a sudden Mac is the worst GM ever again.

People are sh*t talking Barr like he pulled a Josh McDaniels.

Just like any group on the internet. You guys are a mob of sheep. Everyone shares the same opinion, and anyone who opposes it will be mocked and made out as an idiot.

I guess its a good thing Barr wasnt the best LB we signed yesterday....FCK him...time to move on. Plenty of moves to be made.

Edit...."Agreed to sign"

That money is way better spent on support for Sam Darnold, just my opinion.  Moseley AND Barr is overkill as far as I’m concerned.  Of course a team needs a Defense but I think in this era the default on roster decisions should be biased towards Offense.

Sounds good, but it wouldn't make 1 bit of difference if a player doesn't want to move. Could be they don't want to uproot their families or they don't like NY/NJ. Especially if the money is close. Look at what Collins got as a safety, 14 mil, that's crazy money. This is the NFL folks.

I wonder how much state income tax and cost of living weigh on the decisions by these guys?

I know if it was me, Id consider it when comparing deals.  Its not what you make, its what you keep.

Believe it or not, Minnesota's state income tax rate is not much different than NJ's as the top rate kicks a little earlier (although I understand NJ now has a 11% rate for income of $5 million?):

https://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/hrd/pubs/ss/ssindinc.pdf

Sales tax in MN is actually slightly higher and property tax in MN is about 1% lower.

So, really, differences in taxation should not have been a huge factor, at least for Barr.

Don’t be disappointed.

I disagree.  I think the dynamics are going to start changing rapidly with regard to who wants to come here, all due to having a young Franchise QB, before him and with no QB, Bowles as coach and Maccagnan rolling snake eyes with the dice most of the time his first 4 years, I wouldn’t blame any guys not wanting any part of the Jets.

You just had a coach, with a Super Bowl ring, who groomed Aaron Rodgers, begging to come to the Jets, that would never have happened if Sam Darnold was not the QB.

And cost of living including housing?

You're completely missing the point - and that's the problem.

  • It's not just that they passed on a Super Bowl winning HC, that proved to be very good with a young, newly drafted QB.
  • it's not just that hired a Offensive specialist HC that produced three of the leagues worst offenses in his three years as a HC
  • It's not just that we kept our GM that has put together, possibly, the worst talent in the league.  While firing the HC that had to coach said talent.
  • It's not just that they forced a DC on the HC
  • it's not just that they have just hired a new HC with a GM on his last year

Any one of which you could probably make a case that It isn't a terrible thing - but it's the overall dysfunction of the team and organization as a whole.  If you don't think agents and players see these things then you're not paying attention.  No one wants to work for any organization that is clearly incompetent.

Lastly, please do me a favor and stop with the personal attacks or don't acknowledge my posts.

He’s not old. Every 30 year old isn’t old. He’s had 18.5 sacks in the last two seasons. He’s had 20 sacks in a season before. He may wind up being a BETTER signing.

You must be 29.5 ?
