Yes. In a heart beat.

Buffalo actually is putting together a decent OL for next year. The RBs are certainly experienced, LOL. I need to find out about their new WR. What's his name, John Brown? (Jeez, as if I don't have the time...)

The Jets had a need at the center position.  That was a known fact.  The two top centers on the market were Paradis and Morse.  That was a known fact.  Paradis was brought in for an interview in short order.  For partially known reasons, the Jets didn't offer him a contract and he didn't come.

The Jets didn't interview Morse. As proactive as the Jets have been this offseason, there must be a reason for that.  It was not the contract, although it is a ton of money.  Either they didn't like the player, or the player didn't like them.  Until proven otherwise, I'll trust their judgement.

The reason is very simple. Just look at mac’s Track record here. Doesn’t draft Olineman before 6 round. Five straight years, has to be a record. He has never thrown big $$ for a top OL, he just does not value them. He ALWAYS looks for the dirt cheap lineman. So of course those 2 were not going to be considered..

In the 6 round ? Mac doesn’t draft Olineman before then remember ?

I get your point, but he has never drafted any Olineman after the 5th round.  He's taken two, both in the 5th, Jarvis Harrison and Brandon Shell.  He traded up for Shell - giving up the following year's 4th.  He supposedly made play to move up for Tunsil, but thought the price too steep and he stood pat and ended up with Lee.

Considering his draft philosophy, he may try the shotgun approach and draft a couple middle to late.  He's doubled up several times - S, WR and CB in 2017, DT last year.  Maybe you could say LB in 2016, though Lee ended up on the inside and Jenkins outside.

Osemele's cap hit is 10.2million this year, 11.7 next year. They traded a 2017 fourth round pick to draft Brandon Shell in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. He signed Kelvin Beachum to a three year 24 million dollar contract. He signed Spencer Long to a four year 24 million dollar contract.  The Jets brought Matt Paradis in for an interview.  Was that for show?  You can argue the results.  Cheap is not the reason.  He will draft an offensive lineman before the sixth round in the upcoming draft.  You can bet your life on it.

Lol. Bragging about paying a starting lineman 8-10 mil just proves my point. Lineman are now being recognized as very valuable. Their salaries have jumped in past few years more than maybe any other position. The good ones are now making 13-16 mil a yr.But you and Mac don’t understand what the rest of the league does.

Spencer long ?? he was just signed by the bills, so your “ four year deal “ point is worthless..

Mac did not offer Paradis, or Morse a contact for same reason he hasn’t drafted a OL before five round. He doesn’t value them.

Yes Shell was a fifth rounder, not 4th

He may finally draft a OL before fifth round for first time in 6 years. He has no choice since we have a hole at center. He certainly doesn’t deserve a award for doing the bare minimum on OL.

Im sure our  next gm will draft OL much earlier, and may actually try to sign a top OL

There are eight linemen in the entire league that are making 13million dollars or more a year.  That is one for every four franchises. Guess there's not too many "good ones".   Maybe it's you that doesn't understand what the value of a good offensive lineman is. Morse contract made him the highest paid center in the league at 11 million.

You make every thread an argument about Mike MacCagnan.  It seems that you are infatuated with him.  I suggest you get yourself another muse. The fact that Macc traded a future 4th for the opportunity to draft Shell in the fifth proves that he put a fourth round value on him.  Your argument about Paradis is also ridiculous.  Why did he bring him in for an interview?  To ask him about his coffee preferences? What does the Bills signing of Spencer Long have to do with the contract that he signed  with the Jets? You said he only signs cheap linemen.  I disproved that statement by providing at least four examples.

You post a lot of cogent points on a lot of issues, but whenever it comes to anything relating to the GM you lose your sh*t.  That's too bad.  You keep alluding to "our next GM".  Got some news for you.  We'll discuss that in about two years, at least.  In the meantime you can give him a chance, or keep pulling your hair out over it.  Your choice.

Mac is saving money. He didn’t want to spend it all too quickly. Guess what - there is nobody left worth spending it on. Maybe he thinks we can trade for a starting center - the line of teams wanting to trade their starting centers forms to the right. Mac will dig someone up - just like he did last season - that worked out well!

The Jets spending last season was the 11th highest in the NFL. Your right we don’t draft them high. The best don’t usually make it to free agency. Although Macc does over spend on average linemen. Now the Jets have a real QB this will change.

So Morse & Paradis were considered best AVAILABLE free agent centers, that doesn't mean you run out & pay them huge money. Neither is close to the talent that Mawae was when he became a free agent.

Maybe with OK next to him Harrison can do the job, remember when we just let Goodwin walk? He won a Super Bowl with the Saints as their starting center. Maybe the Jets have their eyes on a Center with that high 3rd. This draft is loaded with defensive players, every time a DT, Edge, CB, comes off the board a good center moves closer to the Jets spot. Let's hope QBs, WRs, RBs, come off the board in the 1st two rounds & push a Center right in our laps.

The Beachum deal is kind of a strange one to use to wave that flag.  Beachum was coming off a torn ACL and was a top FA LT during the 15-16 offseason.  Ferguson had refused a pay cut and Mac supposedly really liked Beachum.  They had him in and were outbid by the Jags.  The Jags deal was $5M guaranteed, followed by 4/$40M option years.

The Jets ended up  trading a 5th for Clady and a 7th.  Clady was a likely cap casualty of the Broncos since he as making $10M per and they had just won the super bowl with Ryan Harris at LT because Clady was out with a torn ACL.  Then they had to trade their '17 4th to move back into the 5th (pick after the one traded to Denver) for Shell.  They only pulled the trigger on Beachum the following year after Clady refused to take a pay cut.

These examples do not support a staff prioritizing offensive line talent over expenditure.
