Actually Jerry Rice would hit the spot. With the league being all offense, you would have to add the top wideout of all time.

What Rice would do today would be even better. He played when the defenses were allowed to play defense and hit people. He still put up those numbers.

The vast majority of rule changes helping the offense happened in 1978. Rice was drafted 6 spots after Toon in 1985..

Bo Jackson

I Love me some Barry Sanders. But my favorite player was Bo Jackson.  The man was 6'1 230 and ran a 4.1 40 yard dash. He would run over you or right through you. Total shame a freak injury ended his career.

That’s actually a good choice (even with the 40 time myth) Jackson and Bell would also make a incredible backfield. Brown and Bell or Jackson and Bell.

They already have a Faulk on the team in Bell.

If I can sign anyone I want (Not QB), I would sign Marshall Faulk over Le'Veon Bell. Obviously this is just a hypothetical thread. With that said, I love that the Jets got Bell. He's a top 5 running back in the NFL right now.

If you answer is not Larry Allen (which nobody has picked) you're ignorant on the topic. He is without question the best football player to ever play the game at any position, dominated his opponet every play. Any sports journalist, ex coach, NFL savant,  ex-player would agree.

LT was the best football player I’ve ever seen , it gets a bit forgotten because of the off the field stuff and the sideshow he eventually became , but in his prime he was other worldly, right there with Jordan , Mariano , Gretzky. Those are the 4 guys that in their primes it felt like you were watching an alien from a superior planet compete against humans .

LT would never play a game in the modern NFL. Between the mandatory drug testing and the general frowning upon of raping underage girls, he'd be out of the league faster than you can finish this sentence.

Emotionally, I think Earl Campbell because there was no player I like watching more than him.  Earl in his prime would still be the best RB in the game today by such a huge margin, and what he would do to some of these puffed up players today...yowza.

Realistically, LT.  Nobody I can think of would change a team's fortunes individually more than him.

For this team, right now, as much as Pace or Ogden, or Megatron would be such an incredible upgrade at their positions, I'd still say LT.

Joe Thomas doesn't belong.  He was great, but not Ogden/Pace/Munoz great.  I'd swap in Revis as an alternative to Deion if you like a more physical CB.  Of course you could also go with Mel Blount then, but the flags he would get today... Still, would be fun.

My runner up...Larry Allen.   Nobody could turn around an OLine quicker than him.  He could play either side, Tackle or Guard and instantly be the best player on your line.  Not the best left tackle vs. Ogden/Pace, but the swiss army bazooka this line needs.  I'd take him right now over almost anyone but LT now that I think about it for what he would mean to the entire offense.

Late to the party, my man but welcome.  There's always room at Larry's table. Just not much food :)

I was thinking LT but imagine the offense with Brown at FB and Bell at HB or having Larry Allen shoring up the oiline.

Larry Allen, Orlando Pace, would also take Emmit Smith.

@RJIII

A few people including me have mentioned Larry Allen

Wait, wait RJIII....that can’t be!!  Not a “soft West Coast” guy!  Especially a California guy!  What are you thinking!!  Anthony Munoz was also soft as Charmin!! ?

Also, the greatest/most fun video game character of all time.

Since there’s not much action going on right now.  If you could sign any player in their prime ever to help this current team win a SB and start a franchise who would it be.

LT

Decon Jones

Reggie White

Larry Allen

Walter Jones

Orlando Pace

Joe Thomas

Jonathan Ogden

Jerry Rice

Calvin Johnson

Jim Brown

Neon Deon

Rod Woodson

Is getting a passrusher more important then giving Darnold time to throw or is getting him a sure offense threat most important or is it a shutdown corner?
