Thanks for doing this!

It's definitely interesting to see / think about how the roster is shaping up.

If we don't trade down (which even though would be disappointing, it's probably the most likely scenario), we'll almost certainly take some DL/DE/OLB at 3.  Then with our 3 picks in rounds 3 and 4, I would love it if there were players available so that we could take C, OL, and WR...

Sorry.  I was saying that we are 20 players short now.

My guesstimate is that all 7 draft picks and at least 2 UDFAs make the team.  That plus cast offs gets us 53 plus practice squad after injuries and surprise cuts.

I think realistically Mac signs 3-5 more players before the draft.

Sarge, why does Middleton and “Newcomer “ have a red dot ? next to them?

Good job! Thanks

I don't know....sometimes the formatting is a little buggy.  Just a strange anomaly - doesn't mean anything

Backup Quarterback, I'll be satisfied with Brock Osweiller. Mike Glennon wouldn't be a bad choice either, though I prefer Osweiller.

Running Back, let's draft one or go with what we've got.  If Bilal Powell can't find a team, and wants to come back on a good contract for the Jets, I'd love it. They may be set there.

Offensive Line, I'd be OK with Josh Sitton, if that's Gase' choice.  I want no part of Qvale or Ijalana.  Center depth/ future starter  is going to have to come through the draft

Linebacker,  Copeland is a priority. He must be resigned now. Josh Martin was not terrible.  Outside linebacker depth, I liked the idea of Cassius Marsh as a free agent addition.

Defensive Line/Edge Rusher,  If we stay put at #3 my choices are Quinnen Williams, Josh Allen or  Nick Bosa.  What a surprise. If we trade down, that changes everything.

Blocking Tight End, the market is dry. either re-signed by their former teams or not worthy of interest. We will have to either draft a candidate, look for undrafted free agent or wait for cuts.

Backup Safety, has to come from the draft or late cuts by other teams,  don't see much available for our needs/ price.  We're pretty much set so depth is the only need.  Rontez Miles is a very good special teamer, but was a disappointment when inserted into the lineup.

So...looking at that list of OL men, whose playing RT if Shell isn't at full health to start the season?  What if Beachum gets nicked up? Other than the starting 5, we have just a bunch of hopefuls.  Ben Braden is listed as a backup OT?  Hmm...I thought he was a OG.

This is what gets Max fired.  No OL and finally a FQB

The OL cannot be filled in FA. Mac did not draft enough.  Last year he could have drafted a T instead of Shepherd.

Center is also playing with fire

Just pathetic

Didn't say that was a complete roster.  Just a comment on the additions available to this point, and the poster's suggestions.  Shell had his surgery at the end of December.  Started rehab two weeks later.  Is well into it by now.  No known setbacks.  Will be a full participant in the OTA's.  By camp his injury will be a thing of the past.  It was not as serious as first made out to be. I didn't mention Ben Braden at all, so I don't really understand your point.    You do realize it is the middle of March, don't you?  Looking forward to your list.

By the way here's some helpful information on Ben Braden that might answer your question.  Hope it helps clear things up for you. Hmmm...…                         The Michigan all-state selection and Detroit New Blue Chip honoree stayed in-state with the Wolverines, redshirting his first year and playing in two games as a reserve in 2013. Braden earned a starting job at right tackle as a sophomore and then earned honorable mention All-Big Ten notice at guard in 2015. He was a second-team All-Big Ten pick as a senior, splitting time between left guard (four games) and left tackle (seven), even starting on the blind side against Florida State in the Orange Bowl

I'm not criticizing your list at all....

Just remarking on how thin our OL is with very little depth...and Shell, Beachum and Harrison are decidedly average.  Braden was listed in the OP's 'list' of roster players as the only other OT, and if he's a OT that's news to me.

I just used your comment to piggyback on is all, no slight intended to you.

Got it.  Check out the edit I made to my response to you about Ben Braden.  It is interesting and helpful.  I found it when I was prompted by your  comment to look into his  background.  Turns out he's pretty versatile.  Regards.  Here's the link. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/ben-braden?id=2557953

You made a bunch of solid ideas. Personally I'd love to see TJ Yeldon in here as a RB.

I read your quote to @Sarge4Tide  and checked it out.  You could very well be right.  He would add good balance to the unit. Excellent size and quickness.  Good pass catching back too. Seems like a great fit for the Gase offensive scheme.  I'm sentimental about Bilal.  Good Jet, always puts it out there;  snake bitten career.

Took another look at the offensive line.  It's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.  With a couple of good smart additions, we're there.  What is on that roster is not bad.

My daughter is in Buffalo,  Third year at UB.  Got accepted to the nursing program this week.  She's over the moon.  Me, the wife, and her father too. Looks like she'll be there for an extended stay now

.  Quite a year for the football and basketball programs up there this year.  St. Johns drew them in the first round.  Rooted a little for St. John's this year.  Till now.  One more thing...  Lebron James can no longer carry a team all by himself.  Looks like the beginning of the end.  Looks tired.  The decline has officially begun.  Regards.

Braden is 6'6"

I would imagine we will sign 5 or 6 more Olinemen before camp.

We will have 90 players as usual

In terms of OL there are 2 names that pop up for me that are intriguing.

1. Jordan Morgan at G. Was a 5th round pick out of Kutztown for the Bears in 2017. He was placed on IR with a shoulder injury and then was cut. He was on the Titans practice squad last year and the Jets signed him on February 7th. Maybe on our practice squad, but a 5th rounder hmmmmm.

2. Eric Smith (not the safety) OT. Was an undrafted rookie with Miami  in 2017 (Gase was there). IMpressed the team enough to make the backup RT spot on the opening roster. has a knee injury and was cut. The Pats scooped him up to their practice squad and the Jets then poached him a year later.

Both most likely for the practice squad but boti intriguing for different reasons

This rebuild feels like Groundhog's Day!

Will.it.ever.end?

And I'm not just talking about a key player here or there, every roster has imperfections and areas for improvement....but we still have severe deficiencies or missing starters......No Center, no WR1, do we have a true CB2?  Who will rush the passer from the outside?  Who is the backup RB (no, it's not McGuire....and yes, I do like him)?  Is Shell going to be ready to start Week 1 at RT?  If not, who starts at RT?  Any backups at OT besides Ben Braden (who continues to be a project)?

But we got a new ILB worth a bazillion dollars so I guess that's cool!?!?!

as far as i can tell they've upgraded the positions they've addressed through free agency and also re-signed the guys who looked good enough from last season's team.  the only major loss so far is claiborne.  a couple of holes remain.  maybe getting rid of long wasn't such a good move considering the paucity of the remaining oline players.  but at the same time they still have a draft coming up and it's on mac to get at least two players who can start right away.

I loved TJ at Bama especially in the NC Game against ND. He just blew by those over hyped LB's. I think he'd be a good addition with his pass catching skills.

So glad your daughter got into the Nursing program. UB is ca top notch school. My youngest, Michael, graduated from there with an Engineering degree and a minor in Japanese. There is a large Asian student population at UB as your daughter knows.

UB Mens BB team will be facing the winner of the Arizona St/ St. Johns game on Friday Both are 11 seeds , UB 6th.

I never wanted my Lakers signing LeBron. He's on the downside of his career for sure.
