Good signing, vet insurance with starting experience and a cheap deal.

I like it.

Considering our backup last year cost us $10 million this is a steal.

I’d say.

he didnt look THAT bad in Denver, he’s just best suited as a back up.

What's the point in signing a back up to a 1 year deal? Why not just sign him for like 6 years and forget about it?

I think this was a good signing, he should be a quality back up.

This is a good signing, and a great deal.

Quality backup at a bargain price.

Its amazing how parochial the NFL is.  Coaches go with coaches and players they know.

This also shows how much coaches are involved in personnel.

But agree-good backup QB.  Exactly what we need.  Can't believe we paid $10mm last year.

That’s not bad, hope he never plays. Unless we are up by 28 up with 5 mins to play.

This is a good move in just the fact that we didn’t get Sanchez alone.

Great job Macc

Well, we got a backup who can win the game if he goes in.  That's what we needed.

He played decently for Denver... He has a similar play style to Darnold... Perfect signing in my opinion...

In recent years the question surrounding the Jets has been, who will play QB. Sam Darnold seems to have answered that question with his impressive rookie season. This year the question was, who will back up Sam Darnold. Josh McCown has stated that he isn’t sure if he is returning this year. According to Ian Rapoport the Jets have their answer at backup QB in Trevor Siemian.

Source confirms #Jets gave Trevor Siemian, their new backup QB, a one-year contract worth $2 million. Its value can be as high as $3 million, with incentives.

— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 20, 2019

Siemian played college football at Northwestern and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 7th round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He saw considerable playing time with the Broncos in 2016 and 2017. He was with the Vikings last year but didn’t appear in any games behind Kirk Cousins. For his career he has 5,686 passing yards and has thrown 30 touchdowns with 24 interceptions.

Taking a guess here, but if a few guys get hurt, maybe they can get a late pick for him during the season? He has starter experience, could be worth something to someone if injuries hit. He's not that bad.
