Not arguing, but there have been a few that compare.

There was something about Gronk that made him hard to hate As a matter of fact, the only thing I can think of is the Pats uniform. Great player, big, happy go lucky guy who played like a mixture of a kid and a beast.

Much respect to the Gronk. I wish him well.

Tony Gonzalez is the greatest TE of all time. Gates is 2nd.  Gronk retiring this early because of steroids and the fact that Belichick was about to cut him hurts his legacy

I also think he's the best TE to ever play.  Which is crazy considering how short his career was, and how much it was interrupted due to injuries.  He easily could have shattered every record in the book if he hadn't been hurt.  Those first few years in the league when he was in his prime was something i've never seen before, as he was completely unguardable.

He outta be able to get into USC law school some way or another.

LMAO. The University of Spoiled Children.

Gronk could get a FOOSball scholarship to attend the law school. I think that one only goes for $100,000.

Or just wait for a BOGO and go with his brother.

Yep. You watch. they will seamlessly transition to the next, and maybe last true pass catching/devastating blocking TE. Just watch. I hate them!

Hockenson is a top 10 pick.  He will not be a patriot.

But they will find a guy later in the draft that will be a 10 year pro bowler.

Hocken whatever to the pats

Exactly what I was thinking lol. Although it seems like it's been forever since the big first round stud TE prospect lived up to their draft hype. Most years there is at least one 1st round TE that's touted as the next big thing at the position and (granted, just off the top of my head) it seems like they never live up to it...

Hayden Hurst last year. OJ Howard, Eifert, Ebron, Pettigrew, Gresham... None of them ended up being the dominant player they were projected to be. Who's the last big/first round prospect that actually turned out to be a top talent in the league? Greg Olsen? Vernon Davis? I wouldnt call him a bust but I'd say that even Davis didnt live up to the enormous hype he had when he came out. Is TE the highest bust rate inside the first round?

Edit: Just looked up a few of the recent top TE's in the league...

Gronk - 2nd Round

Kelce - 3rd Round.

Reed - 3rd Round

Jimmy Graham - 3rd Round

Herndon (?) - 4th Round

Kittle - 5th Round

Engram and Njoku look like they might be able to break that first round trend. More so than Howard to this point, anyhow.

They would probably have to trade up.  Can't see Hockenson making it to 32.

I think they do.  They will not be making or keeping 11 picks I think the whole idea is to bundle and move up when needed.  If Belichick likes him, he can get him.

If your talking about 14 time pro bowler 6 time All Pro Tony Gonzalez your right..

I heard this debate on the NFL network a few years ago... most pundits put Gronk number one. GOnzales was a warrior. Gronk was a machine. His stats are terminator like.

If literally no one other than yourself refers to you by your self-appointed nickname, is it really a nickname?

I literally just screen shot this to post and make fun of him lol.

Do you read any of the comments he gets? Its disgusting. I'm surprised he hasnt started referring himself as that ?

He might have to get to top 10.  That is a long way to go from 32.  Would have to give up 32, their two 2s and maybe more.  If Hockenson or Fant fall to 15 or 20 I can see it, but not if they go top 10-12.

I very much try not to read or listen to the thoughts of Jets fans, which is why I’ve muted everyone on this site except for @kelly

No offense Hael, but are you guys high??  Tony Gonzalez is the best tight end to ever play football.  It is not even close.  He missed two games in his career.  Feast your eyes on these stats for reference.  CASE CLOSED!!!

  • Above are Gronkowski's stats.  About half the production of Gonzalez.  He missed more games in his last season than Tony Gonzalez missed in sixteen.

Yep..Gates, Kellen Winslow, etc..  Gronk was great but benefited form having a GOAT QB who has a strong preference for tight ends
