Notes:

  • Khalil Mack makes more money, annually, than Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Phillip Rivers, or Cam Newton.
  • 9 pass rushers make more money, annually, than WR1's Mike Evans, DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green or Julio Jones.
  • 13 pass rushers make more money, annually, than LT's Jake Matthews, Donovan Smith, Russell Okung, Trent Williams or Tyron Smith.
  • 15 pass rushers make more, annually, than any RB in the league, including Todd Gurley and Le'Veon Bell.
  • By franchising Lawrence, Clowney, and Clark, the Cowboys, Texans and Seahawks essentially felt those 3 pass rushers were worth 1 season's pay at the level of the likes of Von Miller, Olivier Vernon and Chandler Jones.

Do you find it weird that John Dorsey took a pass rusher #1 overall and than traded for a pass rusher this offseason even though pass rushers are not important?

2 posts ago, Josh Allen was a one year wonder.  2 posts later, Josh Allen dominated the SEC for 3 years but in Villain's eyes he wasnt a really hot prospect and he's not a technician, he's just speed and stats (something he wasnt 2 posts ago) and that's what I was really referring too so my totally off take was really on!

Why argue over one's insignificant opinion when we're talking about the overall point of things? He's a one year wonder to me, a person who dominated the SEC for 3 years to you.

Quote

Oh and Allen and Bosa were both in school from 2016-2018 and even though they were in school during the same time, they really werent in school the same amount of time and that was false because Bosa missed a bunch of games.

Both can be in school at the same time, but not be on the field as much....just as I pointed out.

You really had no valid response. This was just finding a weak out in the fact that I didnt argue the "one year wonder" piece with your opinion that he dominated for 3 years.

The bottomline is that we've been hearing about Bosa's dominance for years on this forum as well as following him. Josh Allen became a name 15 minutes ago.

If you really had something to say, you'd defend that "teams with great offenses draft defense early and often" comment and try to convince folks that this somehow has relevance to a Jets team bottom 4 in yards and bottom 10 in points.

You've been moving the goalpost for an entire week. To your credit, it's better than what my children have been doing. B)

P.S. STOP MOVING THE GOALPOSTS JIF! lol

Given the evidence we have available, not weird at all.  It's what contenders do.  When you have your QB, the only thing better than one pass rusher is two pass rushers.  Contenders don't just bring back Brandon Copeland and call it a day.

Oh, and don't forget that Green Bay spent $118M on a pair of pass rushers this offseason.  But they're a terribly run organization, obviously.

The emphasis on the short quick passing game probably means there are fewer sacks but pressure will always matter but that's a harder stat to find. Consistent team pressure, not just individual sacks

The emphasis on the shotgun formation probably means that pressure from the edge is easier to avoid for a QB than pressure up the middle

If we're strictly talking winning the super bowl you need everything

You need to be able to play fast under a dome, slow in snow, make a big defensive stop, execute a 1 minute drill, clutch special teams and bold aggressive coaching decisions

You need to stay healthy and get some calls too

I mean, do yourself a favor and read your posts in this thread.  You literally have no point whatsoever and when it's thrown in your face, you run for another topic or spin your point into a totally different position.

Very tiring and honestly, it's a little strange dude.  You're a sharpe dude but you have zero ability to see any flaw in anything you ever put out there.  Which is weird because you're wrong, a lot.

Villain - Josh Allen was a 1 year wonder.

JiF - Josh Allen way out produced Bosa in the same time frame between 2016-2018

Villain - you're right Josh Allen did dominate the SEC for 3 years.

JiF - you just said he was a one year wonder.

Villain- he wasnt a technician, he was just speed and stats, so it didnt count.  Also, Bosa didnt play the same time frame

JiF - Bosa and Allen were both in school from 2016-2018

Villain - Bosa played less games, so while they were in school at the same time for 3 years, it actually wasnt the same time frame.

JiF - wha? huh?

Villain - You think Josh Allen dominated the SEC for 3 years but I think he's a one year wonder

I'm changing the goal pots?  Not you?  lmfao.  Holy sh*t man.

I have no valid response?  lmfao

Brother man, you are a strange dude...

Two posts ago you're comparing the Jets to "teams with great offenses that take defense with premium picks, often".

Now, you dont want to talk about that, but about me.

Strange.

Perfect example of when folks getting trapped in a corner, they decide to talk about the messenger and get off of the messages.

I'd rather not talk about you, but instead what you're talking about.

I know im sharp, I know im wrong often, but that's not the topic.

STAY ON TOPIC AND STOP MOVING THE GOALPOSTS JIF. lol.

Trapped in a corner?  lmfao.  I'm just having a simple conversation by presenting facts that are apparently very challenging for you to accept or you refuse to accept because it challenges your shallow narrow minded way of thinking that isnt accurate in the slightest bit.

My sh*t is on point and accurate.  Your sh*t runs the other way the second it gets throw back in your face.  It's all out here for everyone to see.  I do get a kick out of you trying to spin it though.  It's pretty comical.

And why would I continue talking about something that I made very clear with examples that didnt need any further discussion? Great offensive teams, prioritize pass rushers, early and often.  It's a simple fact and supported by data.  No need to talk about it more.  Your positions is all feelings and stuff, which is why you have to run the other way when facts are shoved into your face.

I didnt chime back into the conversation until you had another terrible misinformed take that I simply smacked down until you started changing the goals posts.  I literally just laid it out there in cliff notes version for you.  Clear as day.  It's like you're 2 different people taking turns posting in this thread but not reading what your alter-ego wrote before it's your turn again.  I'm debating with Vallian The Foe and Vaillan Da Toe but they dont talk to each other and I'm beating them both handedly.

What I’ve learned in this thread;

- taking Defense at #3 guarantees you have a bad offense despite the fact many of the best offensive teams in the NFL take Defense early and often

- Josh Allen who has dominated the SEC for the last 3 years, is a one year wonder. However, Nick Bosa who produces less during the same amount of time, has the proper resume

What does THIS have to do with what the Jets have been doing for the past 20 years?

No okie dokes.

Nothing.  It has to do with the Jets this year.  The Jets could take Defense at #3 this year and end up having one of the better offenses in the league if the investments the Jets made to improve the offense all come together; Sam Darnold improves + Gase is the answer + Bell/Crowder/Osemele help boost the offense + the draft picks they take after #3 hit + Q/Anderson/Herndon continue to develop = the offense could be top 10.

I know, super hard to follow.  I'll let you think about it for a bit and maybe it will sink in.

This is indeed hard to follow. Let me show you why. I'll make sure to highlight the exact disconnect, given that all of these "could's and if's" dont sound like "many of the best offenses in the NFL."

As I stated, it's smart that many of the best offensive teams take defense early and often, given that they're seeking balance.

You said that it doesnt have anything to do with the past 20 years, but rather this year with the Jets.

So I will ask again. What does the underlined have to do with the Jets? You mentioned what you learned in this thread, and then after mentioning your opinion of what I was saying about taking defense #3 you followed it with "despite".

I have yet to follow you in regards to how that has anything to do with the Jets, in particular, the Jets offense.

Holy sh*t man, you cant be serious with this still.  Are you just ******* with me now?  I cant tell.

I'm going to attempt simplify for the 20th time, one last time and then I'm done.  You're not this dense and I'm getting tired of saying the same thing over and over again to you;

The Jets offense has been bad for years.  It's not because they take D early.  It's because they havent had a QB and the offensive players they have added to the team have largely sucked.  Plenty of great offensive teams take D early and often and build offense in the mid rounds and FA.   The Jets could take D at #3 and the offense could still be a top 10 offense because they now have a QB.  Sam Darnold should improve, the Jets hired an offensive guru who you would hope helps the offense, they traded for a top 5 G, they signed the best offensive player in FA and a very solid slot WR, they can also use other draft picks to improve the offense.

Yes, that is "if' and "could" because nothing is guaranteed. Just like your theory that the Jets have to take O at #3.  They could take O at #3 and the offense could still suck.  It doesnt guarantee a top 10 offense.  Just like they could take D at #3 and it doesnt mean the offense will suck.  Sam could take a HUGE leap and all the other factors could come together and add up to a top 10 offense.

That's what it has do with the Jets.  Now enjoy the taste, digest it and take your L like a man.

Continuing to stay "on track", you said "Many great offensive teams take defense early and often" as your defense as to why it was smart for the Jets to do so.

The Jets are 29th in yards per game and 23rd in scoring offense.

The Jets are clearly opposite of that and arent associated with many great offensive teams.

Given the theatrics, it was now impossible for you to say that you either mispoke or was simply incorrect.

But I do understand that it's hard to do that, GIVEN the theatrics lol.

The Jets arent part of "many of the great offensive teams" in this league. You knew what I was getting at all along, but pride....lol.

I wasnt going to read all that extra stuff that had nothing to do with what was being plainly asked.

The straight answer that you couldnt say is this: "Villian, The Jets have nothing to do with many of the great offensive teams in the league".

I got my answer.
