Bears Trade Jordan Howard to Eagles for next to Nothing

Beside the point that Howard is just not that good, and would not be a fit with the Jets. That, and his declining productivity.

Agreed.  But it's more likely that a once starting RB considered at one point a top RB in the league will probably sign a second contract over a late round RB (the Jets RBs) that get limited playing time.  Even more so with Bell on the team, Cannon, McGuire, and Henderson will not see enough touches to garner much interest when they hit free agency.  As inconsistent as Crowell was with the Jets, he got another contract that sadly, the Jets will not benefit from compensation-wise.

Similarly, Howard will not see much time that will guarantee any future compensation.

I just do not think it is a good practice (in this case, because the player is limited and in decline), to risk a future draft pick, based on hopes of getting a future draft pick. Risky bet.
