*******OFFICIAL NFL DRAFT DAYS THREAD*******

It really feels different now that we have Darnold.

I'd normally be quite nervous that we HAVE to hit on this first pick if we're gonna be trotting out a McCown or Fitzpatrick but not anymore. While I have my preferences, everything now is just an added bonus.

Although if I see Rashan Garys name i'll be pretty pissed.

Agreed on all accounts. It's fun going into a draft knowing you have the QB situation settled. And  yeah, I will come away happy tonight unless we do something stupid and draft Gary at 3.

I think for Allen's his tape has not backed up his numbers. He seems like a speed only guy with few moves in his repertoire.  He might become a great pass rusher in the future, but he is not the instant impact guy that you take at 3

True, but Allen is a hard working kid that gets better every year and has no holes in his game. Whatever you ask him to do, he can do PLUS he has the skills to be a great pass rusher. It's not like it's easy to get 17 sacks in the SEC.

The way I look at it is that he was able to get 17 sacks without refined pass rushing moves, now imagine what he can do when he is properly coached?

Fair point. Again I would be happy with Williams, Oliver, Allen, or Bosa

Same. Which is why the Jets don't HAVE to trade down. Especially if the price isn't right. "Settling" for Quinnen/Oliver/Allen/Bosa is a pretty sweet consolation prize.
But again, I would rather get Sweat/ a Center in the 2nd/Next years 1 and maybe a 3rd this year over JUST Allen. I like Allen more than Sweat, but not that much more.

Just saw a q. Williams interview that is all I needed to see to want to stay away from the kid. Could not understand a word he said and he must have said man 10 thousand times. The kid will either be a bust or I would have to listen to him "talk" after every game. No thanks

Yeah, that 11 wonderlic score looks pretty good in retrospect.. Luckily you don't need a high iq to play interior defense.

Metcalf seems like textbook WR bust to me, hope the BIlls grab him

With John Brown and foster, I think a guy like Metcalf seems redundant. Maybe Whiteside makes more sense for the bills.

It's an out of the box pick. Not sure that's a good or bad thing. Was pretty non-existent until the second half of his senior year and then blossomed into a key player on their offense. Really good hands, Really good at adjusting to the ball. Really tough to take down. But obviously not much in the way of speed.

Not exactly someone I wanted but at this point of the draft just about every pick are guys that weren't on many of our lists.

You have to think they go CB here.

I would like Corey Ballentine in this spot.

Kelvin Harmon, the WR, would be the sexier pick but there is a reason he is falling. Guy gets zero separation.

Rodney Anderson would be an interesting pick here at RB. With Bell around we can afford to let him get stronger after his ACL injury.

Lamont Gaillard/Pierschbacher would also be a good pick for Center but if they just took a TE, I have to assume they don't like the remaining Center options or have other plans at Center (Trade/FA)

Damn it. I was hoping the Jets could get Renfrow

I like Renfrow but he is a less talented version of Crowder.

Mayock is HUGE on character, not just skill. I can see it.

Characther and "winners" (bama/clemson).

He has some of the best hands I’ve seen.

Yup, but we have Crowder for 3 years.

And there goes Pierschbacher.

yeah except for he WV kid was like the 200+ ranked player according to PFF

For sure. I said they are trending that way, not that every pick will be analytics driven. It's a good start.

What's the deal with Kelvin Harmon? Thought he'd be a really nice piece and would be way gone by now.

Doesn't get any separation. With that said, we are at the point of the draft where he is definitely worth a flier.

So your ideal GM is a guy with a premium PFF subscription?

I'd rather my GM blindly follow PFF than rely on 85 year old scouts and their "gut feelings."

I guess if Gase likes two TE sets, for stuff closer to the end zone he can use Herndon and Wesco.

Might work out.

Haven't you been following this board? Gase was escorted out of the Jets war room after the Quinnen Williams pick and is currently planning a coup d'etat to unseat Macc.
