*******OFFICIAL NFL DRAFT DAYS THREAD*******

Recommended Posts

Let's hope all those trade rumors are true. The move down 1 spot with the Raiders would be ideal.

He's an excellent prospect. Best player in the draft, according to many.

Yet I feel slightly flat after the pick. Wanted a trade down - I guess we couldn't land a deal to our liking.

Wow....things could be worse - we could be the Raiders.

What the hell kind of pick was that?

So, Leo, McClendon, Henry Anderson and Quinnen... how does this work?

The Commish announced Quinnen as a Nose Tackle, which is probably how the Jets listed him on the card. He plays in the middle between Leo and Anderson, IMO, with McClendon as his caddy and mentor.

Great pick there for the Bills. He's going to be a terror to play against for our interior OL.

Well, there goes McCoy.

A few guys that could compete at Center still out there though - McGovern, Michael Jordan, Pierschbacher, Gaillard.

Get one of those guys, plus an edge player or CB in the 3rd.

My Top 25 Jets Targets with 20 Picks to Go

1.       D.K. Metcalf WR MISS

2.       A.J. Brown WR MISS

3.       Parris Campbell WR OHIOST

4.       Jaylon Ferguson EDGE LATECH

5.       Yodny Cajuste OL WVU

6.       JJ Arcega-Whiteside WR STNFRD

7.       Hakeem Butler WR IOWAST

8.       Terry McLaurin WR OHIOST

9.       Kelvin Harmon WR NCST

10.   Irv Smith Jr. TE BAMA

11.   Lonnie Johnson CB UK

12.   Justin Layne CB MICHST

13.   Julian Love CB ND

14.   Riley Ridley WR UGA

15.   Chase Winovich EDGE MICH

16.   Amani Oruwariye CB PSU

17.   Anthony Johnson WR BUFF

18.   Jace Sternberger TE TXAM

19.   Michael Jordan OL OHIOST

20.   David Edwards OL WISC

21.   Michael Deiter OL WISC

22.   Emanuel Hall WR MIZZOU

23.   Andy Isabella WR MA

24.   Mecole Hardman WR UGA

25.   Connor McGovern OL PSU

That's a lot of talent left on the board.  The value in the 3rd might not be at Center, but with the edge-rushers like Ferguson or Winovich, the WRs or the CBs.

At least one of the remaining Center prospects should be there in the 4th tomorrow.

If we draft Connor McGovern over guys like Metcalf, Winovich, Polite, Lane just because he's a Center that will be a stupid move

Yup. the value isn't at Center right now. It's a huge need for us, but the value isn't there.  Wait until the 4th to get a Center - add an edge, plus WR or CB in the 3rd.

I'm hoping Deiter makes it to us.

That would be a good pick. If he's gone, go edge, CB or WR and wait until the 4th for your Center.

Value. I’m telling ya I can’t deal with that stuff anymore man. It’s maddening.

If we wait till the 4th for a Center because of value that would be a mistake. Did the saints wait until the 4th for a center? The packers? No.
I could understand a WR with our first third potentially but the last of a handful of quality plug and play centers will be gone by the end of the 3rd. We have to wait 22 picks after our last 3rd rd pick
You take the guy you need when he’s on the board. Playing the value game is very dangerous.

Reaching for a Center over better talent at other positions of need - CB, edge, WR - would be a mistake.

The Packers and the Saints took Centers because the value was there, and the need.

At Center right now, the need is there for us but the value isn't.

That’s what I’m saying. The value idea makes zero sense. Ask bill polian. He said it literally doesn’t exist. It’s a fantasy. I agree for the most part.
Taking Pireschbacher or McGovern with our first third. Watching them get picked with the next 25 picks between our two 3rds is not smart. Value it not.

Now, if Hakeem
Butler is there id consider it but Riley Ridley May make to to our second third and would be a great addition. Take the Center if he is there let the value thing go.

Yeah, but value has to be the decider when you have multiple needs.  I wouldn't pick, say, a highly ranked interior DL here. But we have major needs at each of Center, Edge, CB and WR.  Take the highest ranked guys on your board at 2 of those spots.  If that's a Center, great. But, personally, I think there are better guys at other spots who also fit major needs for us.

OK, my top targets for us in the 3rd at positions of need:

Edge - Chase Winovich

WR - Kelvin Harmon

C - Michael Deiter

CB - Justin Layne

Get me two of those guys, Jets.

Scumbaggio Holmes.....booooo!!!!

Where's Wayne Hunter when you need him?

Now.....Chase Winovich for the Jets, please.

Hmmmm....like adding an edge, but would have gone with Winovich.

Polite looked good on the field, but his combine and interviews were seemingly terrible.

Probably could have got him in the 4th,

Like the Edoga pick.  I would have gone Kelvin Harmon, WR, but fine with adding an OT there.

We got a 5th, nice. Could use that for Gaillard or Pierschbacher.

Pick a WR or CB with the 4th.

I like the trade down to accumulate an extra pick, but I hope a few of the WR's last until we pick.

I think Ridley could still be there. I'd like him, thanks. Harmon too, but I think he goes shortly.

What about the Alabama center?

I think we can get him or Gaillard in the 5th. If we go Center in the 4th, I think Michael Jordan should  be the guy.

I agree, and i think the jets will not be picking for pure need this round.  This could be a wr or TE.

Yup. Some nice WRs left on the board, and we know Macc likes the TEs in this draft.

If it's me...Harmon is on the card.

I like these trade downs. Adding extra picks to add depth, and still plenty of talent to be had in this round.

Ok...so the second trade down is odd. All we did is move up in the 5th, we didn't add any picks.

The first trade down was great....the second not so much.

But we didn't get an extra pick in this one.  Traded back 5 slots in 4 to move up 11 spots in 5.  No extra picks.

Yeah, I posted too soon. First trade down was really good. Second is just weird.

Guys, Wesco is a great pick. Great athlete who can run, catch and block. Terrific upside.

I  bet Gase had a big say in that pick.
