Sounds like a blocking TE.

I found this funny.

YAC - I don’t know how a tight end this slow and incapable of elusiveness makes things happen after the catch, but here we are. Obviously not a make-you-miss type in space, nor is he a home run threat, but incredibly tough to bring down and has really good balance through contact. Withstands shots and carries defenders with him for extra yards. Carnage of missed/broken tackles left in his wake is eye-popping at times.

Strengths
  • Burly upper body with a broad chest and thick arms
  • Nasty with an offensive lineman's demeanor as a block-finisher
  • Impressive play strength at point of attack
  • Gets early arm extension and peppers his opponent with stiff jabs
  • Has size and aggression to kick out linebackers and open a run lane
  • Trusted to handle pass-protection duties for star quarterback
  • Capable staying in front of edge rushers and blitzers
  • Began to come on late in the season as a pass-catcher
  • Will lay the lumber as a blocker on kick-return unit.
Weaknesses
  • Can be frenetic and wild in the initial phase as run-blocker
  • Too much lunging and needs to bring his feet with him
  • Slows feet into move blocks, allowing opponent to wiggle away
  • Hands regularly slide out of position when run-blocking
  • Pounds the grass as a route-runner and lacks instincts in space
  • Uncovering against man coverage is a challenge
  • Slow to open and make himself available as a target
  • Awkward hand positioning as pass-catcher

Yuck.

Mac the pu$$y.  The coach got mad at him for not getting his fav blocking Te in Fells and so we have to make him happy with the worthless blocking TE in the 4th, a guy we already have.  A total 10 snap a game maybe guy instead of going for a player that might develop into a full time regular.

Here come the "we suck Macc's balls" brigade to defend him and this pick.

As opposed the the blowhards who have no fu(king idea who or what this guy is bitching and moaning about him, sight unseen.

Nasty attitude, physical good blocker.  So, potentially a blocking TE or ST guy.  Not much of a factor in the passing game until 2018 -- still no great shakes even then.  ??? pick.

They have said they’re in the market for another TE, this guy is like another OL.  This is how you can improve pass protection and run blocking without drafting another OL.  They’re going to maul people with him and the raiders G.

I'll take your word for it.  Hope you're right.

Do you know anyting else about him?

He's a real versatile guy. Sort of a TE/FB hybrid. A really strong blocker but he can catch and he's a load to bring down. He will be a valuable asset in several roles, IMO.

EXACTLY!!!!!!  Fill a friggin NEED with these picks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blocking TE was a need.  Tomlinson sucks.

Problem is it is a need that could have been filled in the 6th round or UDFA while we could have taken CB, WR or C in that spot.

BR peeps love the Wesco pick. He was in the 90s on Rogers talent board. Apparently, had strong Sr. Bowl and they frame as a Gase scheme fit.

They did.  They also had Dana Holderson on their podcast about 2 months ago and he raved about Westco as a player and person.

That all may be true, I just dont see how Galliard, Jordan or Ben Powers (guard not center) can be passed over at this point.
