Goodbye gentlemen it's been fun.

Funny, I think that's what Macc will be saying to his staff in a few days.

I just read up on him.  I'm ok with the pick now.  He was considered a Day 2 kinda guy before the injuries.  It's a total flier.  He re-ran the 40 at a private workout post combine and improved to 4.56.

I think this is exactly the kind of upside flier to take in the late rounds - who can also contribute to specials

This is Jets 6th pick
two season ending knee injuries...means he better have skill-talent when healthy or why pick him.
From CHI

6'1"198 lbsRutgers

Pre-Draft Analysis

Austin is a tall corner with above-average length. He plays faster on tape and he may need more time to recover from consecutive season-ending knee injuries, but he did not run well at his pro day. He has above-average change of direction and short area man-to-man cover skills on tape. He's got the tools to develop into an effective press corner. He's got big hands and he flashes above-average ball skills.

I guess Mac is content with the center position.

This last pick is a very risky reach.  I guess he forgot about Devin Smith and his knee problems.   That didn't work out well.

Mac's approach to this draft was basically the guy in fantasy football who takes all the handcuff RBs, because they have high upside, if they can get on the field... ever.

Nope...but I don't think he was fully healthy at the combine so his 40 may not be what his speed truly is.

Westco has unique ability as a blocker and should be an excellent complement to Herndon.

Cashman was a good value and should be an excellent special teams player at a minimum.

But I think the point most Mac-dislikers have is that we didnt address center, nor does Mac ever seem to have a strong conviction and simply go after a player he loves.  Maybe the team loves what Jon Toth brings as a center and we will all be shocked, who knows.  But as of today, we have a solid backup as our starting center, and the only Lineman we did take is someone with character issues.

He doesn’t have a working knee. He’s never run a 40.

I’m thinking about it and I think I don’t hate this draft as a whole but Polite and this guy leave me feeling frustrated.

Pro day he ran 4.65 and 4.71.   Awesome.

Exactly my thoughts we lack a tall physical guy who can go up and get the ball.....

I guess if Gase likes two TE sets, for stuff closer to the end zone he can use Herndon and Wesco.

Might work out.

Apparently, he came below 4.6 at private work outs closer to the draft with more time to heal and prepare.

Fck you doh boy. Look around you, i'm but one, of a very loud and large collective - who feel the same way. This dickbag of a GM has fumbled draft after draft. And YOU'RE looking at me?! Like it's my problem... we just spend our last pick on a guy who's played 5 games in 2 years with two surgeries on the same knee.

If I didn't know any better, i'd probably have a more passive attitude. Unfortunately, I do.

You whiny little pissant,  you've got nerve calling me a doughboy.  You are one of a contingent of malcontents and crybabies who disparage every move that this team makes.  If you can't see the positive moves that this team has made in both free agency and the draft, that's your problem.  Don't disparage and butt fumble those of us who do.

Continue to wallow in your misery.  Enjoy your pity party.  Maybe it suits you.  Also, consider changing your name.  "Paradis" somehow doesn't fit the narrative.

One other thing, as far as the last pick goes, you have  a point.

Haven't you been following this board? Gase was escorted out of the Jets war room after the Quinnen Williams pick and is currently planning a coup d'etat to unseat Macc.

No. There were a couple more. A one-armed CB from Fresno and a blind guy from Toledo I think.
Didn't the Seahawks draft a guy with one arm who was a more solid prospect than the guy we got?

This is a creative and accurate analogy... also kinda funny.

Exactly the type of stuff that Colin Cowherd does on his show, and why I enjoy listening to him.

Can't say I am thrilled.  I like Williams and the vid I saw of Polite is intriguing.  Such a quick first step.  But the rest does not move me.  And all this Macc-inations with the silly trades......If I am picking 4 nd 5 and 6 I want the highest 4s and 5s  and 6s I can get.

Quinnen replaces Leonard, who replaced Sheldon and Mo. Edoga replaces Shell. Wesco replaces Tomlinson and Leggett. Cashman replaces Lee. This isn't how you build a roster when you're the guy who drafted the guys you're replacing three years later. Polite is the only guy from this class that moves the roster forward, and he's a wackbag who couldn't keep it together for three months prior to the draft. Looking forward, there are more pending hole on the roster than there will be guys to fill them because Macc spends every resource patching holes that he, himself, created.

More Importantly Gase and Wiliams replace Todd. It turns out if your coaching staff can't develop players it doesn't matter who we pick or sign in FA.  Too many potential quality players were shown the door to point all the blame on the GM.  Let's see Leo and Lee under a coach with some fire before we kill mac.

If you were going to burn the 6th on a high ceiling gamble coming off injuries... Rodney Anderson, RB was the pick to make.
