Popular Post nico002
It’s exhausting The entire sporting world is praising the Jets for taking the best player in the draft. We have a young stud quarterback who we just paired with an offensive head coach. We signed a HOF RB still in his prime, an elite MLB, and the best slot available in FA. This team in the eyes of the entire league is moving in the right direction and getting ready to take a big step. 15 15 4 8

ElBarrioJets
Funny thing was, I went on Jets FB this morning to sh*t on the homers and I was kind of shocked by how universally positive the reaction was. Perhaps I've been spending too much time here...

NoBowles
Theres about 7-10 posters who are just negative on everything because "their guys" are not in charge. The thing is, those 7-10 are by far and away the most active posters. Then there are a lot of people who are negative here and there or in certain directions. 1

Popular Post HawkeyeJet
I personally am very positive when it comes to the Jets. Just how I am. That said, I thoroughly enjoy the content of a quite a few of the more pessimistic posters here. Some of my favorite posters. For one it provides balance. For two their pessimism is usually based in reason which makes me check my own viewpoint. It doesn't mean I'll change my mind on everything (or anything) but it makes me check my own BS to make sure my optimism is reasonable.

Popular Post ChuckkieB
I don't think calling out a sub par GM for ignoring a glaring need with the #3 pick with multiple players on the board capable of filling that need, who instead drafts a player (regardless of how super duper awesome everyone says he is) who plays one of the few positions the team was already pretty set at is being negative. Just sayin'

There's nothing more exhausting than watching the front office continue to make stupid decisions when it comes to the draft. It's just as exhausting as "The Jets took the best player in the draft", as if it's somehow definitive. No one knows who the best player in the draft is. This is all projections. We heard the same thing about Leo Williams and guess what? He was no where near the best player in that draft. Williams wasnt even the best DE in the draft that year. That goes to 3rd round pick Danielle Hunter. QW being a top prospect is great in general, there isnt one person who I've heard complain direct those issues towards Q, but no one gives two craps about the sporting world that will praise the Jets in April and sh*t on them in November. Just because a player is said to be the best player in the draft doesnt mean you have to draft him when he plays a position that is a strength. Again, didnt we just do that with Leo Williams? And when we drafted Williams wasnt it basically for the same reasons? There are some people who preferred that the Jets actually draft EDGE given that the opportunity was there, and it isnt like Williams is a terrible player and we just resigned Harrison and drafted a 24 year old rookie last year. Picks like this makes those developmental picks irrelevant. What's the point if you wont even develop your players? Who cares how the entire league looks at us. We should worrry about how this GM view's this roster, and it's clear that his vision is problematic.

I guess you are one of the people that were hoping we got ourselves a DT out of this draft. This is the day after the first round. If I can't complain today about what I perceive to be the same mistakes then I guess I'm not allowed an opinion. I won't be complaining about draft picks after Sunday until next year's draft. I still believe good GMs make the most of their assets. It's easy to stay put and take BPA. Of course it could be worse but we are spending most of our draft capitol and an inordinate amount of cap space on DTs. Can we agree that we should be set at DT now for a couple years? In the Bizarroworld, that is JetNation, it seems the opposite is true. Go figure. I can't. Disagree with the BAP nonsense, even if Williams seems to be a good guy and a good DT. Problem is safeties and DTs come on the free agent every March. It's a nonpremium position, so much so we already have a DT named Williams who was also touted as BAP. in 2019 NFL DTs are fungible commodities, not difference He hasn't moved the needle much. We've seen year after year zero pass rush, late game 3rd down defensive collapses, and offense that's from hunger. Don't want to see Darnold nor Bell hurt or ineffective, but if you don't invest in the OL that is what will probably happen. Call us nansayers or what ever you want. But it's not irrational ; in fact it the most rational response ever. Continually calling safeties or DTS BAP doesn't change the hard truth that Tom Brady could've played most of his Jets' matches in a tux without getting dirty, finding receivers all over the field as there is no Jets rush, and the Jets' offense has been a 3 and out machine forever. Quennin Williams does nothing to change those hard truths.
