Jets Snag USC LT Chuma Edoga After Trading up one Spot

Looking to add a future starting left tackle, the Jets have chosen USC LT Chuma Edoga with the 93rd pick in the NFL draft after giving up picks 93 and 217 to move up one spot.

The #Jets traded the No. 93 selection and the No. 217 selection to the #Vikings for the No. 92 selection, per source.

With that pick, the #Jets have selected OT Chuma Edoga out of USC.

One of the top pass blockers in the country, Edoga is being brought in with the hopes of having him eventually replace Kelvin Beachum.

Possibly Jets felt some team was going to take this OT that is a LT prospect 1 spot ahead of them. The Cowboys took McGovern just a few spots ahead of us so we don't know what these teams catch wind of during the drafting. We are just watching and too many of us making comments without the necessary info in our hands.

Right, because if you don't know who he is, he can't be good. It's crazy how high end NFL talent scouts like yourself can't get jobs in NFL front offices.

Remember when you dismissed anyone who said Macc was an idiot, and then it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that those people were right

I’m still riding the high of realizing we’re going to have Leonard Williams and Quinnen Williams working the middle with Polite flying off the edge. Would have been nice to grab love at 93 but who knows maybe our new OL coach saw something we didn’t in this guy

I want to know why he traded up the one spot.

If it's an honest question my guess is twofold:

1. GMs talk about tiering prospects, if you trade back it's not to hope 1 guy is there but rather that 1 guy out of 5 or so are in the same tier and you hope one or two of them are still there in the trade back.  This SC kid was probably the last guy in a tier.

2. Need/fear - Mac had to get an OL and 2 were drafted right before our pick. The center Mcgovern, who we had to be targeting, and some other small school guy

Too many utterly ignorant posts in this string. Look the guy up and read up profile. One of the country's best pass protectors. Besides, no one on this site know if another team was ready to steal him--I trust the draft room has better intel than anyone here. Thus,  way too many brash and ill-informed conclusions. Pathetic! Jets are having an amazing draft!!! Picked top-rated player, obtained an elite edge in the third (truthfully, must ensure hamstring and attitude are fine--well worth the gamble in third--first round talent before combine), and then picked up a solid, if not promising tackle that may develop into a left tackle. Freaking amazing day!!

"Why did Macc sit on his hands while all those great OL got picked just before our spot - all it would have taken was a cruddy seventh to move up and snag one"

These guys would complain if the JETS won the Superbowl ... Don't try to use logic on the haters

This was a good draft pick, but the random trade up of one spot was strange.  It’s like Mac kept wanting to trade up and couldn’t do it, and finally did.

We all knew how valuable OL is and that the decent players would go in the third.  Polite was also a good pick.  We will start the season with Harrison and Toth at center.

The Vikings called Mac and said :”We know that you need OL and they are all going.  Give us a 7th and we will let you pick the LT from USC.”
