Round 4: 3 top targets

Recommended Posts

The Jets have the 3rd pick in the 4th round and there are 3 guys still on the board that they can't go wrong with, both from a need and value perspective.

1. K. Harmon- WR

2. Hakeem Butler- WR

3. Julian Love- CB

These are names that have been tossed around as prospects for the Jets and most Jet fans would have never expected any of them to be there sitting in Rd. 4.  The Jets need to grab one of these guys and one of them will definitely be there if they do not trade down.

Are there any other prospects on your radar?

*Sidenote: Although probably unpopular amongst Jet fans, I would not mind trading the 4th round pick for a legit veteran starting C.

There are plenty of prospects with much, much higher upside and talent who were expected to go as high as the 2nd round and slipped to the 4th- not just the 3 I mention in my thread. Galliard is not one of them, and at this point, he could very well still be there in the 6th when the Jets pick again.

Brooks and Jeremiah have Love as a 2nd round zone specialist. Not sure how that fits or our need but a very instinctive player

I think you are right. Love is not the best fit in a man-press scheme. But honestly I want Butler or Harmon. When you look at the Jets roster, there is not much room for another CB. I really like Jones, Robinson and Nickerson. I would not want to cut any of those guys or put them on PS. Tru, Roberts and Poole are pretty much locked down and penciled in as starters. That's 6 CBs and I doubt we carry more than 6 into the season.

Butler and Harmon are pretty good values at WR in the 4th

Bryce Love and Justice Hill at RB as well.

I really like Justice Hill as well. I doubt the Jets will go that route having just signed Montgomery but it would not be a bad selection.

Julian Love - Michael Jordan - Hakeem Butler.

If we land of any of those, then I can already call this a very successful draft that can have netted us 4 long term starters, none of whom are 25 years old on draft night.

Would not mind Michael Jordan either. He can play C or G and is absolutely massive. I see him as a legit NFL starter somewhere along the O-line. However, passing up on Butler or Harmon, if they are there, would be tough for me.

Regardless of what we may or may not do later today, think this pick HAS to be offense.......WR or line.

Couldn’t agree more with the 3 top guys to chose from. I am actually excited at the names still available. At this point if you could move Lee for a high 4th (not great value I know) but come away with Butler (give Sam a young big target to grow with, guy is a 1st round talent) and Love (CB is a huge need on this team right now) and to get one who can come in right away and start would be great for Round 4, at the expense of Lee, it’s a win.

Knowing the Jets I think they’d go with Love over a WR.

Although I put him on my list, I would probably change it and put Michael Jordan on there instead. Realized that despite being a great prospect, Love is a zone cover CB and would not be a great fit for the way the Jets play. So I actually doubt they take him. And I have mentioned this already but if you look at the roster, it doesn't make sense for them to go after a CB. They have 3 veteran CBs penciled in as starters (2 of whom they just signed and one Tru who is here long term) and they have 3 young developing corners (including a backup slot CB) who look very good and I would doubt they would want to cut any one of them (Robinson, jones, Nickerson). That makes 6 and I don't see the Jets carrying more than 6 into the season. Going after a CB at this point simply doesn't make sense to me. Either you draft one early and part ways with Jones or Robinson or nickerson or you take one very late and if he does not play lights out you are ok to put him on PS.

To me, this will be a WR or TE or O-lineman. And Butler or Harmon are the top 2 prospects on the board-IMO. They happen to be WRs.

Agree about Love.  For his size he isn’t very fast and isn’t very physical.  I would look WR, that’s where the value is right now IMO.

Butler please

Butler would be great. Love his size and speed. Not a great route runner and hands are a bit iffy, but in the 4th that's splitting hairs, this guy has the talent to go in the 1st round- just a bit raw with his skills, which is probably why he slipped to the 4th (also this is a deep WR class).

K.Harmon is kind of the opposite to me. He has all the skills in the world but not the physical attributes. He did not run the best 40 and is considered by some to be slow-footed. But he still has great size and strength and just makes plays. GREAT hands. GREAT tape. I like Harmon a lot. Tough to pass on him and tough to pass on Butler, but I'm guessing the Jets won't have to make that decision as one of them will be gone by the time they pick.

Just a highlight reel, but you can see how this guy is a legit playmaker.

CBs Kris Boyd, Michael Jackson, Amani Oruwariye, or Isaiah Johnson maybe? They're all solid prospects with some question marks, but worth a shot.

Beau Benzschawel is another OL, so super unlikely, but I like him as a guard prospect.

LB Mack Wilson was getting talk as a day 1 guy early on, but fizzled... Still, the talent is there... Not a position of need though.

I wouldn't be upset with a TE either... I think the Jets could run a really good two TE set... Kaden Smith or Foster Moreau?

I wonder if the Jets are higher on Jon Toth  to be the long term answer at C then they are letting on.  He was rated as high, or higher than the guys still on the board coming out  two years ago. SEC guy, 3-4 year starter. Think the WR value here too hard to pass up vs the C options at this stage.

Did you end up going Thursday?

Yes it was alright we opted to stay in a LL bar field level and not sit outside in the MEZZ it was raining .

$11 beers and $15 chicken sandwiches. I bought a $35 hat in the store.

Good time good crowd they booted us out not soon after the Giants pick.

Not just that its a need. Love is a 2nd round talent, immediate starter who thrives in a zone based coverage scheme. Gregg Williams plays a lot of zone, especially when he blitzes.

I’d love a center but idk how we pass up on Love...if he’s even there. CB is a premium position. If you can find a starter at a premium position in Round 4, you take it and run.

I really disagree with this narrative. Might be a huge need down the road but not this year. Assuming they carry 6 CBs into the season:

Tru, Roberts, Poole (all locked down financially- two were just signed)...Nickerson- young backup slot CB they took last year, looked good whenever he got the chance to play. Jones- super talented developmental outside CB, looked good when he go the chance to play. Robinson- another young and super talented outside CB who played well when given the opportunity last year (was able to stay healthy too- which was an issue for him). I think the Jets like where they are at with their CBs. It would be one thing if they saw a greedy Williams or Murphy slip into the 3rd round and just could not pass up on the value. But at this point, I don't see them going after a CB, nor should they.

As most have said, OG/C or TE is possible but the value is really at the WR position, so I think they will go that route.

I think this team is built to play man-press and G.Williams will be playing man-press for the most part. Sure, maybe mix in some zone when he blitzes, but it will be mainly man-press, IMO.

The big rumor yesterday was that the jets tried to trade up for a cb, so i expect that could be the priority today.
