jetstream23
Put your name on it! The Jets have added pieces to both sides of the ball and they feel they've got better coaching on both O and D as well. Which phase will be best for the 2019 Jets? For purposes of this poll let's consider the composite ranking of Points For/Yards For and Points Against/Yards Against as the barometer. For example, if the Jets Offense finishes 16th in Points and 14th in Yards then that's a composite ranking of 15th. Same for the Defense but with Points and Yards given up. Trying to get a sense for which phase of the game our fans believe will lead the Jets in 2019, particularly after years of anemic offense and an expectation/hope that the Defense could carry the team....although it didn't. As comparison, here are the 2018 numbers.... Jets Offense - 23rd in Points, 29th in Yards (26th Composite) Jets Defense - 29th in Points, 25th in Yards (27th Composite) http://www.nfl.com/stats/team

slimjasi
If Darnold takes the jump that a lot of us expect him to take, then it will be the offense. 3

bealeb319
Tie me down to offense leading the way this year by a good bit. I think our defense will be good but our offense will be top 10.Sent from my LGUS991 using JetNation.com mobile app

True, but until it’s demonstrated that the defense has either a) guys who create turnovers or b) guys who get sacks, it will continue to be a bend/don’t break even with williams’ attack style. New York Mick
The D has better players, depth and a better coordinator so they should be better but the O has Bell. It really depends on Darnold and the oline staying healthy.
NYJ1
Defense hands down. With that said, the Jets offense finally has some pieces in place to be better than bottom 5 statistically. Finally something to look forward to with the offense.
BUM-KNEE
I think the offense will be the better of the 2, BECAUSE the D will be getting them the ball back more.

varjet
The It’s all about the lines. The Jets’ defense will do well against teams without strong OL. If an opponent can block our DL, we are toast. The Jets will have a lousy OL, and thus the offense will generally underachieve.

cant wait
both sides need to balance each other, if the defense can get stops and turnovers the offense can run efficiently through bell and darnold to win a bunch of games. gase has made brocktoberfest look like a decent NFL QB
jgb
Jets OL will hold offense back. Defense gonna be nasty
Jetster
Both are improved. Defense gets the stops, Sam moves the ball & Jets play a lot of football on the opponents side of the field. Finally having a QB for Jet fans will be like flipping the field, which is usually what we experienced for years. You guys know the feeling, 3 & out backed up & the opposing offense & good QB keep starting closer to the 50 yard line. One play & your in scoring range. I think Darnold will be one of those QBs that exasperate opposing fans. He has uncanny feel for the pass rush, he can throw on the run, he can run just good enough, he's strong enough to run out of some tackles, he's learned how to go hurry up & QB keep for 3rd & 4th and ones, and he accurate as hell. Im going OFFENSE because of the defensive improvements & Sams development under Gase, the additions of Bell & Ty, Crowder, Quincy back, Herndons 2nd year, KO, Wesco blocking, Chuma, healthy Shell. BigRy56
The team is overall more well rounded but the defense looks like it can be top 10 right out of the gate. The offense is a little more up in the air... it depends on Darnold, but if he plays all year like he did the last 4 weeks of last season the offense could be top 10 too. Jetsfan80
I expect the offense to be solid. But if it isn't the defense, it goes way beyond firing for Macc. Tar and feathers seems appropriate. We've invested 4 first rounders, including 3 top 6 picks, on defense. We've also spent a 2nd, 3rd and 3rd in the last 3 drafts. Plus enormous contracts on C.J. Mosley and Trumaine Johnson. Come on. 1

UntouchableCrew
15 hours ago, GKnight83 said: I respectfully disagree. Why? Pretty much every asset we've had for the last 10 years has been invested in defense. Our biggest FA signing last year plays defense. Our biggest FA signing this year plays defense. We drafted a defensive player 3rd overall. Our 2nd draft pick plays defense too. The only All Pro on the 2018 team plays defense. There's zero excuse for the defense not to be good, they should be embarrassed if they aren't one of the better defenses in the league. Obviously I hope Darnold balls out and the offense is better but based on overall talent and resources invested there's no excuse for the defense not to be great, frankly.
