ALL-Rookie Team Dept. - which jets Rookie ( NOT named Quinnen Williams ) Landed on the preseason All-Rookie Team ? ? ?

If any of the Jets’ six new draft picks are going to earn early accolades, it has to be Quinnen Williams, right ?

After all, the Alabama defensive tackle went No. 3 overall and has been widely regarded as both the best player in the 2019 and the second coming of Aaron Donald.

So any preseason All-Rookie team surely has to have his name on it. Or so you would think. But when NFL.com recently released it’s way-too-early look at this coming season’s best rookies at each position, Williams wasn’t on it. But another Jets draft pick, strangely enough, was.

Congratulations, Jachai Polite.

The third-round selection (No. 68 overall) landed one of two EDGE spots on the site’s All-Rookie projection, alongside Nick Bosa, who the 49ers took with the No. 2 selection.

Here’s what Chad Reuter had to say about the selection :

The Jets needed pass-rush help, like, right now. Polite is not aptly named because he will not endear himself to pro tackles or quarterbacks. This is a match made in heaven.

For what it’s worth, Polite was one of just five players drafted in the third round or later to make the list. The other 19 honorees – the list featured 11 offensive, 11 defensive and two special teams players – were selected in either the first or second rounds. As for which defensive tackle made the list instead of Williams? Well, that would be Ed Oliver – who the Jets reportedly fell in love with before the draft and would have been a target if they had traded out of the No. 3 pick.

Instead, Oliver landed with the Bills, which means the Jets will be dealing with his interior prowess for years to come.“Just plug Oliver in at the 3-technique spot and watch him disrupt plays,” Reuter wrote.

Isn't there already a thread on this?  This isn't a preseason all-rookie team, it is just some silly blogger's projection.  It doesn't mean it is the best players, just the guys that will get an opportunity to shine.  Gaines will be running next to Donald, while Williams may be stuck at the nose.   Polite will have every opportunity to get sacks on this team.  It doesn't necessarily mean they think he is a better prospect than Sweat, or Burns, etc.  He will have a pretty open shot at starter.

Pat Kirwan on yesterday's show said Sweat may be this years Bradley Chubb as far as having a big sack year. Pointed out that Chubb obviously had Von Miller, where Sweat will have Allen , Payne and Kerrigan.

I see that Bosa, Allen, and Oliver all made the preseason All Rookie Team. Here we go again with picking the best player in the draft.

I see we have all already concluded on their career paths.

Pre-Season All-Rookie team?

Is there a more meaningless fluff of hot air than naming an "all rookie team" before a single player has taken a single-snap?

The hot fluff of anal air I let out while reading your post was more meaningful.....had a nice strong musk to it with hints of chicken with broccoli undertones but an unpleasant wet finish........like literally wet......it was a slight shartsky. Good news is I'm pretty sure it didnt get past my crack.....underwear saved!
