Former Jets linebacker Dylan Donahue is attempting to make an NFL comeback after a stint in the now-defunct Alliance of American Football.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Donahue recently worked out for Oakland and Washington.

Former Jets’ LB Dylan Donahue, whom the NFL has reinstated after he drove the wrong way in the Lincoln tunnel and got a DWI, just finished tryouts with the Raiders and Redskins as he tries to return to the league. Donahue last played for the AAF’s Atlanta team.

The NFL reinstated Donahue after he was arrested for driving the wrong way in the Lincoln Tunnel while under the influence. Donahue was suspended 14 weeks for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy during the 2018 season. He last played for the Atlanta Legends of the AAF.A fifth-round pick out of West Georgia University, Donahue finished his rookie season with the Jets with five tackles. His season ended abruptly after suffering torn ligaments in his elbow.

Donahue’s off the field issues date back to a week before he was drafted, however. In May 2017, he flipped his SUV after driving into a parked vehicle in his hometown of Billings, Montana. In February 2018, Donahue then crashed his vehicle into a small passenger bus while driving the wrong way through the Lincoln Tunnel. Donahue, 26, proceeded to voluntarily check himself into a rehab clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Now, Donahue has the opportunity to play his former team if he signs with either the Raiders or Redskins, who are both road games on the Jets’ schedule in 2019.

Clearly this guy has a substance problem. He should absolutely get another chance in the NFL if he’s gotten straight. Suffering from a substance use disorder and making mistakes while under the influence is a lot different than beating up women or children and we give those types of guys second chances all the time.

I wish him well and hope he makes a strong and successful comeback.

Yeah I remember him - another wasted Mac draft pick. I don't know how Mac scouted back 3 or 4 years ago but I do think he has gotten better. Instead of wasting  picks on players like Dylan Donahue now he takes risks on players with bigger potential like Polite or Blessaun Austin - and Mac actually has someone look into their personalities.
