Hello from Scotland

Recommended Posts

Good Morning (afternoon here)

Jets fan from Scotland touching down and saying hello, making annual trip across the pond in October to see the Jets (v. Patricheats) with my wife (one of them) and daughter (Giants).

We've been over a number of times, and since i get to book it luckily it's always Jets against someone...last year the home game we came to was pre-season v Giants (stuck on a bus from New York as traffic was a nightmare that night as I'm sure some of you will remember and we got in near end of first quarter).

This year we will be back on the train as it always worked before but would like to find a way to enjoy a bit of tailgating and wondered are there any fans groups who offer strangers the opportunity to join in for an hour or two before a game?

Any help appreciated

H

Cheers Crusher, as long as they don't suffer blended supermarket whisky i'm all good.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: It's not only Ballantines that tastes awful, other cheap whiskies may also affect your ability to taste hot dogs properly at the game.

Pretty sure the JN tailgate happens every week, I only make 1 game a year roughly so I’m not sure exactly. One of the local guys should be along soon to hook you up

Better add any version of Octomore to balance out your luggage.

If you're the guy who snuck some Scotch into Christopher Johnson's coffee this morning and got him to act on his impulses then thank you!

Cheers mate.  A fan of the wee dram eh, but dinnae ken how Americans havnae any class taste, preferr'in the mingin stuff?

Well, be assured, some of us do indeed have a better palate than all that, and they'll be no haverin' about it.

Ok, that about uses up most of my Scottish slang at this point.....

What part of Caledonia do you hail from?  I'm a lowlander myself, from the land of battles, wheels and kelpies, although I've lived almost my entire life here in the States (hence my borderline criminal shortage of Scottish colloquialisms).  In any event, glad to have you aboard.

When it comes to the usquabae, I tend to favor them all as long as they're single malt, but I have my favorites.  Selection over here in some states (like mine) are quite limited, but I have a pretty nice collection/rotation going I think.

Planning a trip to Scotland next year with the GF.  My son is going in October.

Big fan of The Balvenie.  The 14 year Caribbean cask is a nice drinking scotch, the 21 is a special event dram.

I'm from Dundee so also a lowlander, though I spend half my time trying to be a highlander in the cairngorms as they're only an hour or so from here. There's an annoying bar (actually quite decent but with an annoying name) called the Usquabae Whisky Bar. I always want to  tell them what they are doing with their name but hey ho.

Which state are you in ?

Oh I dunno I kind of like the stupid giggle people do when they find out you are a Jets fan. I realised I made the right choice all those years ago when I was in the Gillette Stadium on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago - pissing rain, 0-41 down and I was ecstatic with a field goal while all the miserable winners round me looked unhappy.

Or maybe i'm just a masochist like the rest of you :-)
