I’m actually more surprised that it was Gase who made it. I thought he’d be fired prior to week 1.

Any chance we hear from the owner and he outlines what’s going on? @Scott Dierking or should we not expect any sort of transparency and suck it up?

Now would be a time for clarification of a plan moving forward. Thanks for asking.

Just curious as you led the charge on transparency being unimportant

UPDATES

latest reports

- Adam Gase did not know this am this was happening

- Rumor is the rift that something “went down” between Heimidinger and Maccagnan which caused Johnson to act to end dysfunction

- Gase does NOT want this on his plate. He is focused on developing Sam, just moved his family here, had nothing to do with this.

Maybe the owner could clear this up.

The transparency you wanted was not going to come, for obvious reasons. And still won't.

Unfortunately you are right. Nothing against them, but I can’t imagine paying to be a season ticket holder with this ownership.

Any chance we get Gase's contract details now that he has two titles?

Did Maccagnan get fired for incompetence or fired because the owner felt he couldnt immediately fire the coach he just hired? Im thinking the latter unfortunately.

Been wondering that as well

Pure gut feeling, but it feels like a Mangini situation again with the Johnsons- and Gase may have misrepresented his personality in interviews etc and the Johsnons fell for it. Owner then panics and fires the GM to save face for the time being.

I think the Johnsons were always dubious that Mac was going to work out.

They gave him one last chance.   They were also likely trying to save money, and also knew that better GM candidates would be available after the draft, because many out of loyalty would not want to take a new job in January having already done their scouting.

Dorsey was also fired after the Draft.

Mac and Heimerdinger, individually or separately, did not prove to anyone that they had figured out how to build a football team.  It has been clear from the posts here and articles recently written that people were gathering up all of Mac’s screw ups in an easily readable place.

I think if the Johnsons were going to keep the FO around through this year, they should have had Mac/BH on a much tighter leash.   It’s one thing to not overpay for players, but if I am going to overpay for a player I overpay for OL and not DL and ILB.

It was clear to me that Mac was going to get fired, but I assumed in January after the Jets finished 7-9.  Firing him now, and bringing in capable others, is a good thing.

The piece of news that disturbs me most, if true, is hearing how Gase did not want Williams.  Hopefully they get that figured out.

Maccagnan's firing to me looks more like the owner panicking because he suddenly found out that Gase is a power hungry Type A, sell his own mother down the river type of personality.

I haven't read much of this thread, but is there any chance that the Jets straighten out their organizational hierarchy and hire someone who is Gase's boss but reports to the owner? @Sperm Edwards @T0mShane

Im hearing Charley Casserly will be involved lockstep.

Gase interim GM.

Gase involved picking next GM too (we have to presume)?

We are most certainly "all-in"on googly-eyes now.

On the surface it looks that way. I dont trust the Johnson's to keep it that way though. Mostly due to their insecurities, I think they like having the confusing power structure where no one knows who to blame because no ones actually in charge.

Interesting tidbit from Chris Simms - said Maccagnan was 100% going to be fired by the Houston Texans before Casserly picked him to the the Jets GM.

On the other hand, it's kind of exciting to see because this franchise is such an utter disaster in every sense of the word that maybe a true egomaniac psychopath like Gase is exactly what is needed to rid this franchise of it's pathetic meandering.  I have a hard time seeing Adam Gase as the man who liberates this franchise but that might just be the Jets fan in me.  Reality is, we probably do need this type of a person to clean house and grab the Johnson's by the balls.

I agree, but this is exactly what Mangini was. Him and Woody hated each others guts and Mangini was fired for being a dick to Woody, among other things.. My worry is CJ fired Maccagnan because he couldnt fire Gase after just hiring him. I get the sense that CJ was blindsided on how irritable Gase's personality is- the total opposite of Bowles, a pushover. Either way, hopefully CJ is totally aligned with Gase and Gase knows what he's doing. If CJ meddles Gase will just quit,

Your worry is that Mac hired Gase, and then CJ told Mac to fire him after not coaching a single game, and then Mac couldn't do it?

Sorry I just didn't follow that part.

What gives you any sense that CJ the owner is getting irritable with Gase's personality? How much time do you think the owner spends at the facility with the coaching staff? it has to be minimal?

My worry is Johnson was blindsided about how crazy Gase is and panicked by firing a GM he liked because he couldn’t fire w coach 4 months after hiring him. Let’s be honest, everything has been off since the bizarre Gase press conference when he got the job. Actually it predates that as the search was a mess too.

Not to go down a Mangini debate but that's who he was in theory.  And maybe who he thought himself to be but he wasnt because he just clearly wasnt dynamic enough of an individual to pull it off.  Hence why he was fired and Tanny was retained and was a failure in Clev.

Unless you're right and it's because he couldnt fire Gase because of the optics, this is a different situation.  Gase clearly showed he's capable of pulling the ultimate power move on CJ.   I cant imagine CJ was blindsided by Gase being so difficult.  That's very public.  So maybe they are lock step and we're ride or die on Gase.

I'm intrigued.

Chris could clear this up by actually speaking about things other than the uniforms .

Josina is BFF with Bowles. I’m glad Bowles is finally taking his shots here, sh*tty though he was

The national media is going to be anti-Jet now as they're overwhelmingly pro-player (Le'veon) and anti type A guys without the resume to back it up. A 180 turn in spotlight from Mac and Bowles, where the Jets were irrelevant.
