Adam Gase probably hates him.

Keyword, 'probably'.

If he does, he'll lie about it,  If he doesnt, he'll lie about it.   If they hire him, he will be excited but wont take the credit for landing him unless he succeeds.  If he fails, it's CJ fault and he never liked him to begin with.

Go Jets!

They have a bunch in common.  Fans flew banners over the stadium to fire them both.

BTW, I am officially frightened.  Getting Bill Parcells son in law would be par for the course of getting things the Dominator does not want.  I mean the Dominator, not @T0mShane who would probably love it.

Think the media freakout generally is because Maccagnan and Bowles talked like sugared up 6 year olds. And in fairness the Johnsons in their zeal for pointless media buzz did nothing to stop that. If Gase and the next GM treat the beat writers like mushrooms as they should, there isn't much for them to do but...watch football.

Mark Bowden, arguably one of the best nonfiction writers in America ("Blackhawk Down","Killing Pablo" many more) was for a time assigned to cover the Eagles beat for several years early in his career, from the Buddy Ryan/Kotite/Andy Reid regimes. He readily acknowledged he didn't know much about football, and rather than spending his time writing gossipy crap learned the game. He became a very good football writer before moving on, even got a book out of that , "Bringing the Heat". Sadly doesn't appear any of these beat guys are going on to bigger and better things like that, nor even bothering to learn what it is they're watching. They're much more inclined to cover the soap opera as they perceive it.

But simple question-how can you expect any offense to work if you don't develop an OL? Way easier to write about "the circus" and "being lied to!". But again-how was this allowed? How do you draft a franchise QB and set him up to run for his life every week? Can you lazy turds ask that question? And why didn't you for 2 years?

Why would he want to come here ?

Only real shred of a hook is he is from here(Orange County) and so is his wife, Parcells' daughter(NJ).  But he's been gone from NY/NJ for like 3 decades so that doesn't make much sense. He also has or had a place on Cape Cod and has some relationship with Bellichick, too, so who knows, may be he's going to Foxboro, as plausible.

Parcells has been sending people to the Jets for ages.  He blessed Tannenbaum, Rex and Bowles.  Pioli was Assistant GM in Atlanta.  That is why he would want to come here.

If Douglas doesn't work out, and every day that goes by it become less likely that he comes here, the Jets need to look at Pioli and Eliot Wolf.

Wolf in particular is going to get zero credit in Cleveland and has no reason not to move on to a big market spot, with a franchise QB and young HC.

Pioli is experienced, will have Parcells backing to take some heat off him in the media and has done a good job everywhere hes worked.  The issue is how close he is to Belichek and how much BB hates the jets, it might be a deal breaker for him

.....Scott Pioli was in WAY WAY over his head in Kansas City....  The guy is probably a good scout, especially regarding linement, so that might be a good match for you jets people as it seems you need to build a line....but he can't read offensive talent/skill positions and he covers up his deficiencies by micromanaging and making sure everyone knows he is the man in charge.

Based on his time in KC, I wouldn't want that guy running my team.  Maybe he's learned something....and since you already have the young QB, you don't have to worry about Pioli being in charge of finding you one...because he doesn't know how.

Piioli also was very much into "his guys".....so a guy like Matt Cassel, who he traded for to bring to KC....kept getting run out onto the field LONG after it was apparent he sucked..Pioli intentionally brought in nobody at QB that could even remotely challenge Cassel...Pioli also kept trotting out BAD draft picks trying to prove he was right about them when it had long become obvious that they were busts.

He will also try and fit round pegs into square holes due to his stubborn insistance on adhering to his schemes etc instead of adapting to the roster he has.

Lastly....he'd almost certainly power struggle with Gase.  Pioli hired two weak head coaches in KC that would do his bidding and when Todd Haley became insubordinate..Pioli actually....literally....launched plots and intrigues to build a case in the media to fire him.

Perhaps Pioli has learned from these mistakes and would make a better go of a second chance at being a GM but I doubt it.  I wouldn't want to gamble that he'd be different than his first go round.....

Lastly....that dude took the Assistant GM job in Atlanta thinking it would be a temporary landing spot for a year or 2 until the next oppertunity came around.  His fat ass has been parked there for 5 years.  The team went to a super bowl in 2016 while he was there.  No calls.
