Also, giving a running back a big 2nd or 3rd contract hardly ever retains its value. The Jets needed playmakers. They went and signed the best available because the regime that was in place couldn’t identify that type of player in the draft or wouldn’t put the resources there. That said, I expect that he has a solid season, but to really be “worth it” this team needs to at least sniff the playoffs. And I don’t think they will. The "in-shape" comment and picture was because half of this board was saying he was fat, lazy, and overweight. Football shape is different, no kidding. and that is also a factor in why the start of this season may be slow for Bell along with the new system and new Line chemistry... To be worth it this team needs to sniff the playoffs? I would say that falls more on Sam and Gase ... if we are in a "wild card contention in week 15-17 that would be enough (sniffing playoffs). While I do agree it is unlikely we get in the playoffs, mostly due to what the schedule looks like today (could end up being easier but prob not) I think we see an improved Sam if for anything just because this will be his second year and he looked like things were coming together the last few weeks. Add in a more "offensively friendly" Coach and system and Gregg Williams usually has a positive impact I won't be surprised if we are in the Wild Card hunt. SAR I
Does Bell get a bonus if he makes All Pro? I hope so. SAR I

The statement that there was "no market for him" isn't true at all. Maccaganan certainly bid higher for Bell than anybody else. You're right about that. Maybe even significantly higher than teams like the Raiders, 49ers, and Ravens. However, after this is all said and done... the Jets got a bargain. When players like Allen Robinson and Sammy Watkins make $14M and $16M per year on the open market, getting Le'Veon Bell at $12M is larceny. He is a better receiver than both of them, and a fabulous running back to boot. Le'V Bell is a superstar. The other teams with cap space made the mistake. Not the Jets...
CanadienJetsFan
Let’s hope he stays healthy. It’s about time we finally have a player on the offensive side of the ball that demands defensive coordinators to do some game planing.

(And no, I’m not questioning bells abilities) No. Because Darnold hasn't earned any respect yet. If he improves on last year's season, yes. Just remember how the league laughed as you all touted King Butt Fumble as the next Montana... Right now, Darnold is the 3rd best QB in the AFCE, behind Brady and Hoyer.. The future in NJ would be brighter if you could get rid of the Johnsons. Bell will be "injured" before the bye week.
